Root sbc kernels

what is a sbc kernel like what does it do? i am using anthrax kernel is that a good one for tommys rom. and and does tommys rom consist of this sbc thing. and finally how would i activate this feature in the kernel

the sbc kernel has Superior Battery Charging capabilities. Anthrax kernel is one of the Best Kernels out. I'm not sure if the Mason Kernel is Sense yet. I've heard there was a possibility. My Understanding with that is that it is the best kernel out there for our device. Underworld is the One with SBC and is another good kernel.

sbc is found in the kernel and not in any rom. you have to flash the kernel that has sbc cooked in.

I don't know what kernel Tommy's rom has stock, the OP of the thread introducing the rom would have a 'changelog' that tells a lot about what is in it if it isn't just right there in the open. Can also look in menu/ settings/ about phoe or something like that and see whick kernel you have.

One thing to remember is that kernels react differently on different phones, to some extent. I have had kernels folk swear by make my phone go nuts. You need to try it and see and give it a little time to play nice with your phone to see.
 
ok im confused so is sbc charging good or bad... and if it is good which kernels has this feature... i read the forums that you guys posted im just a little confused
 
I have used sbc kernels on aosp roms with no ill affect. I am using one now and it seems to be working just fine on the Decks Reloaded rom. I chose the option to install a Mason kernel with sbc.

From what i read, Mason seems to implement the sbc charging in the best and safest manner. There are no mason sbc kernels for sense roms yet.

I believe the Underworld rom has sbc for Sense. pretty sure I tried it too. Phone didn't blow up or anything. I switched back to anthrax though cause i felt it worked better for me.
 
Lets see if I can try to clear some of this up...

Normal kernels charge the battery to 100% and then actually stop charging until it reaches 90% and starts charging again. So when you take it off of the charger it could be anywhere between 90-100% charged but the phone will still say 100%. This is what causes that initial 5-10% battery drop off quickly.

SBC kicks butt! It allows the battery to be fully charged when you take it off the the charger after charging overnight. It actually will charge it past your batteries 100% point and keep it there. There is some worry that it can degrade the battery over time (years) but they are cheap enough to replace.

Anthrax is the king for me, but it does NOT have SBC charging. You will need either the underworld kernel or Lionfish for SBC charging.

The dev behind the mason kernel is working on a sense one, but so far has not released it.

SBC is a feature of kernels, not the ROM.
 
Tommy is sense, correct.

A really good habit to get into is to look at the page the developer of a rom puts up when he offers the rom. It has all sorts of good info in there. quite often, I have no idea what they are talking about, but over time you learn more about it.
 
ok final question for real this time um is there a way i can make my phone ring when it is fully charged . for example once it hits 100% it starts ringing

I personally use battery monitor widget pro...available in the market.
And I have it set to notify me when the battery is full and also notify me when charging is complete.

Edit: I should say, the play store, not market...geez, I hate saying play store..doesn't sound right:rolleyes:
