Root Sd card class question?

So far, it would appear that the Evo can't quite do sustained Class 10 write speeds. It also appears that I got a pretty good deal on my Class 4 card since it's getting over Class 6 write speeds. It's still blowing me away that the Evo reads that fast.

With these results on my card, it's no wonder I'm not having any issues with recording video or playing movies. Sheesh. That's fast.

I'm still not liking the taste of this crow that I'm at least partially eating! ;)

It will read over 10 just not sustained, if you watch and trust that clock. Looks like you dont need over a class 8 with evo though. Someone grab the stock 8 gig class 2 that comes with it and run a test!

LOL the goal wasnt to make anyone eat crow, just find out if its worth while to buy the class 10 cards for evo. Always in search of knowledge and info...

Just FYI, the tests on my Class 4 typically went over 15 MB/s when first starting, and then settled back down to the numbers I posted.

I'm trying to find another app with SD card speed tests so I can see if these results are relatively accurate. So far I haven't found any other app.

well its guaranteed to r/w at at LEAST 4mb/s right? Kingston makes a nice card though, we know that already. So yeah good deal on the class 4 reading at 7.5.

Oh, I know. It's just that since I'm an avid photographer (mostly digital) I have been buying SD cards pretty much since they first came out, and the rule always was that the hardware focused on writing speeds rather than reading. My world is now upside down since it appears that modern electronics have changed all that. It would seem that the write speed is now the limiting factor and read speed is through the roof!

Yeah mine ran up like that too, so basically i posted the average of the averages if that makes sense, the test looks like it runs an average, i ran 4 tests and averaged those results...Mine jumped to almost 50 when the test started.

I would be willing to run another test, we need to so we can sort of verify these results.

If nobody posts results for a stock SD card by the time I get home from work, I'll run the test. My current card will also read over 10 but not sustained. I'm curious to what a class 6 will do? I ran the test about 5 more times now, and it seems like my original 8.1 is about my average. Highest I've seen is 8.8

It would seem as though that is the case, which is also why i which we had another benchmark.

I dont have a class 6 but i can also run a class 2 test when i get home, i have my original card there. The stock is class 2 correct?

I got a couple that I would throw out as flukes, but for the most part on my Patriot 16gb class 10 I get 10 MB/s write and 20MB/s read according to Sd Tools

now thats interesting because 3 of us are using the same card yet you are the only one to actually write at 10. The only factors should be the sd card and the hardware correct??

What hardware version do you have? Just curious, im on 0004.

003 for me. I wonder if its a rom thing too. Maybe tweaks for sdcard access. I am running Destroyer with Savage Kernel 1.6

I am on KU R3 (should probably change my sig). I flashed akazabams sd card speed fix though...i suppose the rom would be a factor though depending on what sd card tweaks they have done.

At least there is proof the evo can read at 10mb/s and the class 10 card may be worthwhile even now

lol 136! that seems like a fluke seeing as the fastest sd card r/w i know of to date are around 90-100 lol. i guess instantaneously it may be possible? im not that knowledgeable on sd cards.

This was the final that the end of the test....I figured it was a fluke as well but I saved it none the less

ok so i also have a patriot class 16g card and here are my scores:
7.6/20.2
8.8/19.9
7.2/20.4
9.4/19.7
6.6/18.6
8.6/18.1
it is pretty crazy how the write scores seem to be all over the place and yet the read scores are pretty consistent. my hardware is 003. i'm currently on king cocoa 1.

by all means post away and astound everyone by your amazing fastest microsd card ever! :D Tell patriot and evo for tha matter what an astounding job they do. 136 is the actual final speed it posted? it didnt just show up for a second?

I may be wrong but it seems like what is going on in the background affected my test once or twice. Like it was running and i got an email or a text or something and that test was substantially lower than the others.

Haha I was wondering how long it was going to take for someone to ask about screen shots. I had an issue as well. You have to go into ES file explorer and open the SDtools folder. Then open the image. From there you can do the screen shot. Definitely some interesting results. I was going to post some questions regarding ROM's and speed tweeks, but had some things get hectic at work. I'm using MikFroyo at the moment, but I'm going to try my nandroid of King's and Koni's later on.

EDIT: Guess I should of specified. Are you having problems with this particular app and screen shots? Or do you not know how to post screen shots in general?

I was trying to pick the .png files off my sd card, open them in Microsoft Photo editor then copy and paste the pics....didn't seem to work though. Do I need to download a screen shot app?

Ya I tried doing it that way first and couldn't get it to work, but I've never messed with a .png file. So I used the screen shot app. Using the app though, I couldn't get the screen shot to work while on the results from SDtools, it kept dumping me back to the beginning screen before snapping the pic. I had to take a screen shot of the saved .png in file explorer.

EDIT: Didn't realize it created a folder in my gallery. You won't have to go into file explorer.
