Accessories Seidio 1600mAh extended life battery

Got my dispatch notice wednesday on my pebble so will test it out and let you guys know once I get it. Noticed that the pebble is actually cheaper than the powerbee black version as I paid
 
Reporting back with more testing on my Powerbee. This is on my second run, i.e. the first time I completed charged the Bee myself. So far I've had:

Desire: 16% -> 75%.
I didn't want to leave it overnight so stopped at this point.
~850 mAh

Desire: 15% -> 99%.
Again I was going to bed and this was close enough for me.
~1200 mAh

Near the end of this charge the third light turned off, thoguh it came back again and disappeared a few times over the course of ten minutes or so, it must have been on the boundary.

Nintendo DS Lite: 20% -> 100%.
The 20% is an estimate based on the power light turning red at 30% and how long the battery normally lasts after that. This is a 1000 mAh battery.
~800 mAh

I realise batteries aren't generally their stated size in reality but I don't have any way to measure that. My Powerbee should have around 2000 mAh left in it right now, enough for another couple of Desire charges similar to those above. I still see two lights on it so that's a good sign.

Unfortunately I need the Bee to be fully charged for a camping trip this weekend so I'm not going to have a chance to drain it completely to find out if that is the case. But testing will continue over the weekend and next week :) .

Camping trip? Farnborough Airshow, I presume?
 
Tried my Veho Pebble for the third time -same results.

-In both charges my Desire was almost 0% and then turned off itself.
-Used the pebble with the included cable.
-Takes 3.5 hours to fully charge, 950 ma AC output is BS. Takes the same time to charge it with my Energizer Xpal 200 charger which has 500mA output

First charge
0-75%: First led off
100%: 2 led left

Second charge
0-18%: Second led off
18-70%: Pebble shut off.

Managed to charge almost 2 times my desire, most likely 3000ma battey inside, not 5000ma.

But not bad for the price, similar capacities charger sells for around $50.

I really don't how people can squeeze 4 charges out of it, my phone was unused and wifi/data/3g/gps/bt off during the charge.
 
Just received my Veho Pebble and am a little disappointed what it says on the back of it. It says Output 5v 750mA and not 950mA as advertised, even on the Gizoo website.... Can you guys check if yours is the same or not please? Am wondering if they have changed the item....
The box also says 750mA and moddel VCC-A007-PBP on top of the barcode.

edit: the Manual states 950mA Nominal..... Also there are 11 tips with the packaging?

2nd edit: 10 tips, 11th tip is to charge the device...
 
I've got the PowerBee and had 2 full charges so far... well from around 15% to 100%. This was with the power already stored in the device. Still got the 2nd LED showing so should get a third charge today.

@twe: My PowerBee (which is identical to the Pebble except in terms of the label) show an output of 5V 950mA with a capacity of 5000mA@3.7V.

From my experiences so far I would highly recommend the PowerBee!
 
Have people seen this: HTC DESIRE EXTENDED LIFE BATTERY - HTC Desire

It doesn't have specs yet, but might actually have higher capacity as it's bigger - of course you have to use their special back plate as well though, but might be good for when you know you won't be near a charger (i'm thinking festivals etc). Anyone used one like this? Are there other makes of oversized batteries for the desire?

Just bought one of these and i am on the 3rd charge, so far, its really not done much and still testing further and at the moment, the original battery seems to do better. however, i have just installed app killer and at 7.30am fully charged know 12.30pm and has dropped 1 bar (bear in mind no calls or texts etc yet) sorry not sure how to give in %. for me, the proof in the pudding will be tonight 7.30pm, as normally is pretty much done and dusted. So far the App killer seems to be doing the job, i will need to test with wifi etc switched on and more calls. also this is my third charge and they say give it 5-6 before the battery is fully working.

The extended battery back cover does not fit 100% perfect, there is a gap here and there, that will not clip in place. phone is slightly thicker, but still light weight, am hoping this battery will last me longer than the original, but it does not seem that way, you might be better getting another slim battery as a second than the extended battery. though, taking the back off seems (to me) a dangerous affair, as it feels like its going to snap off.

Also for people who are missing calls, without the phone ringing, theres the Signal boosters Ebay, the feedback suggests that these work on the desire and other models, e.g. iphone 4, basically boosting signal power and pre-longing battery performance. just orded these and will leave feedback if they work.

Damn i've spent a fair bit on this mobile
 
Going to test this veho pebble over the weekend to see if its any good and how long it takes to charge the Desire.
Does anyone know how to measure the mA that comes out of it? Is there an app on the Android for it? Thanks.
 
Powered on the PowerBee and it had all 3 LEDS lit up. So charged my desire with 65% battery left at 09:55hrs and went to 99% by 11:20ish with the supplied cable. The PowerBee still had 3 LEDs lit up and the Desire showed as charging via AC. On holiday tomorrow so need to top up the PowerBee before i can test it properly to see how good or rubbish it is. Fingers crossed that it does meet up to its 5000mAh rated battery.

The booklet says the capacity is 5000mAh@3.7V(18.5Wh) so does that mean i will get less than 5000mAh in capacity as i'm charging with 5v instead of the 3.7v ?
 
Yeh I noticed that with the voltage, am guessing you will get less than 5000mA due to the higher voltage. Had mine charging for 100 minutes... Hopefully its charged by the time I leave work in another 40 minutes so my tests are more useful.
 
Am slightly annoyed now as my bee shows as usb charging when I use the lead it came with.

Might contact the seller...
 
Right first test.

From 12% charge left in Desire to 100% it took about 3hrs including about 5 minutes of phone use for texts and website browsing.

The 3 bars did go down to 2 but aster disconnecting the Pebble from the Desire it went back to 3 lights, showing full charge.

One weird thing was that it wasfully charged out of the box. When I went too charge it all lights were on and not flashing. Then all the lights switched off. Will test over the weekend.

1. It doesnt matter if it says 950 or 500. What matters is the REAL charging current.
2. Your phone can show AC charging with 500ma current and it can show USB charging with 1000ma current. It depends on the cable and the charging voltage. You may plug a nokia cable to the original 1A output charger and it will indicate USB charge. But will be charging as fast as with the original cable which says AC. I just tried.
3. The battery is 5000ma @ 3.7V. The output is 5V so it will require a stepup circuity to get that output. The total power of the battery is still 18w. Of course the total output power is not 18w because step up circuits are not 100% efficient, more like 70-80% efficiency.
4. I only received 5 tips.

The veho will take 3 hours to fully charge my Desire from 0%, and according to juiceplotter the charging is linear, so it means each hour it provides 460mah. It is more like USB output even if it say AC.

And remember that conversion circuits are not 100% efficient, so if the battery pack is rated 18watts, your phone will only get 12 watts at best at 70% overall efficiency. the battery pack voltage 3.7v must step up to 5v then stepdown to 4.2v when it reaches the phone battery.
 
OK so I reckon mine is almost similar to yours in terms of how fast it charges the phone.
I will take some photos of what I got, must have been an update to the device, although I am surprised it does not come with a standard female tip to charge say my mp3 player with a male usb tip.
I have downloaded and installed JuicePlotter to see how good it is.
 
UPDATE:

I have 2 pebble chargers, one was the unit I have been reviewing and the other one which I gave to my girlfriend and shes been using it 6-8 times already. She said her pebble was able to charge her blackberry 8520 3.5 times with a single charge so I decided to test that unit.

Amazing thing is, this one perform lot better than mine.

First charge
5%-92% 1 led off
100% still 2 leds.

Second charge
10%-100% 2 led still on.

I will be trying the third charge, with 2 leds still on, I hope it can at least charge my Desire to 70%.

Charge time is the same 3 hours, but the capacity of the internal battery seems to be different. Looks like I've got a bad unit and a good one.

Here is the graph with juice plotter, you can see the charging method is linear, this means the current does not vary over time, only at the very end.

Charge started @ 9:50PM and ended about 1:00AM.

Right my Pebble died:
I got:

1st charge 12%-100% - 3 leds lit to 2 led
2nd charge 11%-100% - 2 led lit
3rd charge 24% - 65% - 2 led to 0 lit

That does not seem that good to me? About 2.5 charges possibly 3 charges after using it a few more times?
 
WIth my powerbee I got 2.5 charges out of it (15%-100%) on the first real test but during the second charge I was using the phone heavily so im pretty pleased with it. I also got it at the

Nope, I am involved with a Duke of Edinburgh group, had a Silver assessment this weekend in the New Forest.

After a bit of use I think I can now get three charges out of my Powerbee, from 10-15% up to 100%. It's not as good as I hoped but for
 
I also bought the 2400mah 'extended life battery' and have found the same as the other guys. probably slightly worse performance than the stock battery. for
 
It's crazy that they can be 'that' inefficient compared to the standard. Can someone clear something up for me please, I've read conflicting reports, some stating that the Desire ships with a 1200MAh batt, others that it's now 1400MAh. Can someone let me know what it's shipping with these days? Also, anyone know of a good car charger for the desire? I have a microUSB one already, but it seems that the desire has a thinner usb port than the standard?

Also, many many thanks to everyone that's posted here (I actually joined the board because of this thread). I was going to get one of the bigger batts when I upgrade to the Desire this week, but now I'll go for a Pebble I think (looks more stylish and is now negligible difference in price. If I can get three decent charges from it, I'll be more than happy. That's still a long weekend's worth of charge, and I can charge the pebble up whilst driving to and from the destination anyway.
 
After so many charges with my 2 veho pebble these are the results

Device A: 2xfull charges, 1x30% charge
Device B: 2xfull charges, 1x10% charge

-Charge time with USB: 9-10 hours

-Included charging cable will always indicate AC charging no matter which is the real output.

-Charging rate is close to 650ma. It takes my computer USB 3.8 hours to charge, the pebble takes 3 hours. HTC 1A charger is 2 hours.
