Setting up CM6

maybe there is a better thread to discuss this in, but what is the difference between AOSP V 0.9.8 and the latest cm6 nightlies? Much difference in speed... even if I flash the same kernel as AOSP 0.9.8 onto cm6?

aosp 0.9.8 is vanilla CM6. Fewer customizations in aosp. Stock launcher with aosp, updated ADW with the CM6.

Personally, I have not seen a huge difference in the speed between the 2 roms. There is more to it than just the kernel, but there are many kernels to choose from, just have to find the right one for your setup;)

Look at the very first page of 'setting up CM6'. Some good information for apps 2 sd (thanks Fenga Papit for instructions) . Remember, froyo roms have native apps 2 sd, so no need to partition your sd card
 
my apologies for asking a question that has most likely been answered somewhere else but I am unable to find it. i just flashed cm6 to my phone, exerything works great except for the sd card will not mount. when i press mount sdcard in settings>sd card & phone storage it says preparing the sdcard, then sd card safe to remove. i have restored to my nandroid backup and flashed again but the problem is still there. does anyone have any advice?

If you plug your phone in via usb, you will be asked to mount sd card. If you press it, a green screen should come up and 'Turn on USB Storage'

Did you download the facebook application from the market? After you sign into FB, it should ask if you want to sync with all contacts
 
yea i did, but it never syncs...i reboot and then go back to the fb app and it has the dont sync contacts option enabled...when it was enabled....did this 3 times already
 
I'm running the latest stable with deca's latest 768 stable kernel. I think my phone is sending double SMS and sometimes the recipient doesn't get the msg for about 10 mins or so. Any suggestions?

You could always try flashing over to a sense rom and see if you have the same problems there. Send/receive a few texts for a bit. Then, nandroid restore back to CM6
