Settings -> Device -> Sound option missing

Just got a new Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2 phone. It's missing the Sound option from the Device subsection of Settings. It's replaced by an 'Audio profiles' option.

I'd be grateful if anyone could tell me how to get the sound options. It's driving me up the wall. I do not wish to take the app route. I just want access to Android's original sound settings.

Hi Thom, thanks for the welcome.

The phone (Karbonn Smart A52+) came with Audio Profiles option by default. Even the booklet says audio profiles; there's no mention of Sound settings.

I did a factory reset too. Same as before.

I think I should mention this however. I installed the Alarm Clock app (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.macropinch.axe&hl=en) today. Opening up its Settings -> Set System Alarm Sound presents the option 'Complete action using Audio profiles/Sound'. I have attached a screenshot to make it clear. It's only from this app that I'm able to access the sound settings of Android.

I can't fathom why the sound setting has been hidden from the settings menu.

That's really strange that the manufacturer has left out the menu shortcut to sound settings.
Don't know what to tell ya. They've skinned Android with their own rom like most manufacturers do.
All I can suggest is finding a custom rom for that phone which is doubtful.
When you long press home screen, do you get a "shortcuts" option that maybe contains "sound"?
If not. Maybe try Nova Launcher?

Thanks for the reply. I'll give the ROM flashing a miss as I don't want to void the warranty.

Long pressing the home screen just showed me options to change the desktop wallpaper.

Will have a look at the launcher. Maybe it'll help.

Just curious here, some devices, when your adjusting the volume via the volume rocker, does the volume slider that pop up show a settings icon beside the slider?

With Nova Launcher, you can put a shortcut to your sound settings on a home screen. However, mine is on an LG skin so I'm not sure if it would work with your phone.

I suspected that it wouldn't as you are not having Settings for sound just profiles I think this is something that is specific to your phone manufacturer

the only thing I can think of is to see if its rootable and if there is a custom rom available for it that offers the sound option instead of the profiles.
