Shipping date speculation

Oh and yes I see now. Just a typo, so I suppose next week is a rather realistic possibility still huh?

Its either a typo or they are making sure they're correct. It certainly didn't arrive before that date. :D

Yes, its sounding realistic to me.

It's been a week since I cancelled my order less than an hour after it was placed and still no email.... I hope I don't have the same situation as the xda guy.

Hello there, I pre-ordered my 16GB Nexus 7 on June 28th at like 1AM. 3 hours later, I also ordered the cover for it, which would cost $10 to ship by itself.
So later that day, I decided to call the 1-855-83Nexus phone number, spoke to a rep named Justin and asked if he would simply be able to alter my order and combine the shipping. He said that a certain window had passed and he couldn't do it himself, so he would forward it to a "specialist" who would cancel my order so that I could reorder the N7 and cover together to save $10 on shipping for the cover.

I decided to go ahead and re-order it before getting any cancellation notice, and immediately after the phone call, he also sent me a very kind email saying it was a pleasure talking to me and that he had forwarded my case to the specialist. It wasn't until the next day (June 29th) that my order showed up as being cancelled in the Play Store, and I received an email confirming the cancellation, so all is well for me.
You should try calling them just to see where they are at, it may speed things up a bit.

Hi there, this is a completely pointless post just so I can get past the annoying spam filter of not being able to make my first post

Welcome to the forums. :ciao::beer::shakehands:

He said that a certain window had passed

The shipping window perhaps?

Yeah, it's an annoying process. I still just don't understand how they don't animate the process like Amazon does.

Thank you for the welcome! I had been browsing this site for the past few months but just now created my account.
Anyway, the "window" he was referring to was apparently the "cancellation" window. So I assume that may have meant I or he would have been able to cancel my order within a certain time after placing it. And since he I guess didn't have the clearance you could say, he had to forward it to the "specialist". Because I had ordered the cover at around 4AM then went to sleep and called the Nexus number that afternoon.
Also, when I had ordered the cover at 4am, I had started my order and was on the confirm payment page, and then I opened a new tab and went back to the sale pages for the cover and the N7, and both of them were temporarily unable to be ordered, and you could only enter your email address to be informed of when they would get more in.
So when I was on the phone with Justin, I mentioned this and told him I was wanting to make sure not to cancel my order before being certain they had been sold out or anything. He informed me of exactly what I thought had happened, that they were updating the site during that time to apparently fix people's orders etc, and so that's why it appeared to be sold out. He assured me that Google and Asus have plenty of N7's to go around for everyone. =]

You were able to order the cover? Sweet! Was really annoyed I couldn't nab one :-/

Yeah, the reason I didn't buy the cover with my original order was because I was going to wait to see what covers would pop up on Amazon that might have more features like rotation and the little grids for placing the tablet at different angles. And then I thought about that for a second, and was like "Wait...this is designed to stomp the Kindle Fire, how terrible of me to get a case from Amazon when I am already spoiled by their prime shipping for being a college student!"
So it felt good to give that $20 to Google instead, especially considering the virtually nonexistent profit margin they are getting from the N7, + all the BS they are getting from Apple. :D

Also, for anyone interested in other covers than the one Google offers, this appears to be just about the best one you can get, and it also comes in 3 colors!
Amazon.com: i-BLASON Google Nexus 7 inch Tablet Play Leather Case Cover Detachable Landscape / Portrait View for 8GB 16GB Android 4.1 Jelly Bean - Three Year Warranty (Black): Office Products

If you look closely at the images however, the cutouts dont match the Nexus 7, so I am guessing they simply dont have any images of what it is supposed to look like.

That's the kind of case I'm looking for. It doesn't ship until June 13. I'll wait until at least then and make sure the holes fit first.

I have a feeling that July 13th ship date is no coincidence :D.
Man, I just keep getting more and more excited about finally having it in my hands. I plan on doing my first ever unboxing and review video once I have it.

I think I will wait for the covers that cost like 5 dollars on amazon I am a really cheap Eastern European but yet I ordered the 16 gig N7.

Go figure!!! I still find myself to be cheap! :-)

AAAAAAAA  Atmazzz you confuse me sooooo much - do you mean July 13th because June 13th passed almost a moth ago?

I am usually confused :-)

I think the only one I'd like would be the one from Google because from the looks of it, it will feel the same way the actual back of the device will, and it also says Nexus on it :) also it doesn't seem to have such bulk...

Yeah I made the same mistake too lol, I meant July, I just had June stuck in my head since my other posts were about my original order/cancellation dates.
I wish the N7 cover page said what material it was made out of, I really like the clean, smooth, and simple look of the cover offered my Google. And I will probably put one or 2 of my Android mini figure stickers on it, just so that at a glance, anyone seeing me using it in B&N etc knows that its an Android device.

I'm gonna wait for a $4-5 case on Amazon. I can't say that I like any company enough that I'll overpay to get their stuff.

$20 for Google's cover is quite reasonable, it is only the $10 shipping that makes it a bit overpriced (thus why it is best to order it the same time as the N7). I don't think I've ever come across anyone that expects to be able to get a quality cover for a device like a tablet for as low as $4-$5. That is expecting too much for too little.

Call them!
Finally called them. 45 minutes on hold and they said that my cancellation was sent to the people who do that, but it was never processed. So they escalated it. Got my 16gb ordered finally. Hopefully they don't screw up and cancel the 16gb order that I placed today as well as the one last week :D

Wow, they must be really busy! I only had to wait 5 minutes or less when I called them on the 28th in the middle of the afternoon!

Not saying it's a quality case. But I can replace my faux leather $5 case four times for what you pay for a Google case. What are the chances I'll need to replace it that many times over the life of the tablet?

Yeah sorry. Its me calling every 5 minutes.

I think you answered your own question in a way? What indeed are the chances you'll have to replace a case over the life of the product? I've yet to buy a case for anything that I have had to replace. It comes across that you're saying you'd rather get a $5 case because you expect to use it/wear it down so much that you may actually need to replace it a few times. I just have a hard time believing that even Amazon will have quality $4-$5 cases for the Nexus 7, and even then they would have to have Prime shipping or else they would probably approach the $10+ range. Based on cases I've gotten in the past for the Acer A100 and A500, I think $10 may be about the minimum you can expect to pay for a fairly decent case for a 7" tablet.
