Shipping date speculation

They are a riot. I still have the original box for my OG Droid, so I fear damaging the box. And yes, I have no idea why I keep the boxes, just something I do.

You and me both. My wife calls me a hoarder bc of it. Ah well!
She's grateful anytime we have to return something!

I recall Chief kept his too, in pristine condition in which to lie his OG for the rest of its life.
Well, I should be getting it at work tomorrow and we have plenty of sharp knives in the kitchen. Hopefully it won't be too much of a problem to get it open. :)

Shouldn't Google have pinged my card and found it invalid? Shouldn't I have been notified if that is the case? Have they even tried to charge my card? This just gets weirder and weirder. Those questions are mostly rhetorical.

Similar happened to me but with an old billing address still in Wallet. It asked me to update my card, which took 3 attempts to go through and delayed order acceptance to 1st July.

I used AMEX (to get the 2nd year warrenty) and it got rejected twice before I called amex and they allowed google wallet to charge to it. I had the same deal with updating my card before the purchase went through. I had the same 7 day window to get it fixed. FWIW Amex thought it was fraud and blocked it.

I've also built systems that authenticate purchases using paypal, and we always verify that the card has the amount we need to charge before completing the purchase. The Paypal API calls it a delayed capture when you put a hold on the money but not ship. Rich, I'm not sure why they didn't catch that early as the process is fairly fast (seconds). Good luck getting it fixed so you don't get delayed!

My OG is still in service running like a champ, although for the most part it is my alarm clock.

Mine is out for delivery today.

Sorry to see some of you guys still have no info. Hope you get it soon.

The video of people trying to open the box features a lot of idiots. The tape is easy to cut if you have an actual knife. The guy in the video is using a freaking collar stay. No clue what he's thinking. And then you have the idiots who try to peel the tape off instead of cutting it. WTF??? Once you cut the tape like a normal person the box is a PITA to open though.

I think your reffering Aron from phonedog? Its because he traveled by plane to the IO, so he couldn't carry anything sharp with him ;) but even I could have found something better haha!

Unboxing this baby is going to be half the fun when it gets here, should be within the hour, usually for me at least :)

Actually, in the original video from that guy he explains he doesn't have a knife because he couldn't fly with one. I guess he is still in his hotel at Google I/O.

Yea, I saw the whole original video. He was in a hotel right after leaving the I/O for the day.
His shirt stay was the sharpest thing he had in his room at the time.

I fly with my knife all the time. Sometimes in my pocket. Sometimes in my checked luggage. In any case, it's not a good example of an unboxing fail.

Ordered a 16gb on July 8th and haven't heard word one yet. No shipping info and no charges on my card yet. I work for a review website though and we ordered one during the keynote for testing purposes. THAT one just showed up at the office.

just got mine. cannot wait for lunch to play.

I am waiting so hard right now. Mine is in San Jose, CA, and this is my hometown. It is a big city in terms of area so it could be anywhere. Someone stop me from driving around in a 5 mile radius to find UPS trucks!

Just a quick followup for the doubting doubters who doubt. The review should be up at the end of day today or tomorrow morning at latest. The site is Reviewed.com and the subsite is Tabletreaderinfo.com. Cheers!

If that's the case, what does it say about people wanting more memory? Maybe, just maybe Google misjudged how infatuated people are with cloud services.

Agreed. Honestly, I bought the 8gb since I just don't need that much on board storage. But, I know it was a HUGE turnoff for many. If the Nook Color can have expandable storage and keep its pricepoint, surely the N7 could have done the same.

I really hope that doesn't apply to my preorder. I ordered an 8GB and a 16GB and have heard nothing but crickets since I ordered. I'm at work now so I can't call them and sit on hold for 30 minutes.

...chirp, chirp, chirp...
