I fly with my knife all the time. Sometimes in my pocket. Sometimes in my checked luggage. In any case, it's not a good example of an unboxing fail.

Really? So you get through security all the time with a knife in your pocket? What's it made out of plastic or ceramic?

It's a flip blade. It's small and goes on the keychain. Looks similar to this.

It hangs on my keychain so I often forget it's there when I fly and it's either in my pocket and dumped in the bucket with my other personal belongings or it's in my backpack when I go through security. If I remember I leave it at home or in the car. I've never been challenged about it so far.

I'm gonna be pretty unhappy tonight if I get home from work and STILL haven't heard anything.

Google has issued a statement saying all remaining U.S. and Canada pre-orders will ship today. I really hope they stick to that timeline.

lmao!! I opened mine in 1-2-3, i didn't understand the big deal.

I agree, it was ridiculous. I pushed the small box out of the sleeve (which was a tight fit, but slid out with as much pressure as a toddler could apply), cut the tape on each side, and slid the box apart.

I was expecting to fight with it from all the posts/videos. It took maybe 5 seconds to get the box open.

Actually, in the original video from that guy he explains he doesn't have a knife because he couldn't fly with one. I guess he is still in his hotel at Google I/O.
Did he not have a key (car, house, whatever) on him? They're metal and kinda serrated. I've used my keys many times to cut tape and they're a hell of a lot better than a plastic shirt collar stay.

BTW, this is what I carry:
Amazon.com: Gerber 22-41770 Artifact Pocket Keychain Tool: Home Improvement

It packs a xacto knife blade on it. If security has an issue, I can pop the blade off and put a new one on when I get home.

It's here! (3.5 hours earlier than I expected it, usually packages don't arrive until 5-6pm for me)

Unfortunately, I'm about to leave for work and won't be able to play with it until I get home :(

By the way, the box is not that hard to open... It fits snugly, but not that tight.

Took me like 5 mins. The box was tight in the sleeve to begin with. I used a knife on the tape like a normal person. Getting the box apart was an exercise in futility. Couldn't grip the bottom part. Shaking produced no results. There might have been a few not nice words said before it gave up the goods.

Congrats LordBrain, at least you know it will be waiting for you fully charged when you get home.

At least we can hope for the statement to be true. If not we'll just have to wait.

Mine just arrived in a plain unmarked box. One interesting thing to note was that the address says it originated from Lexington KY, so I don't know what used up all the time between the label being printed on Wednesday, google mailing me the tracking number on Friday, and it finally showing up yesterday in the UPS database in KY.

No real problems unpacking it, but those tape seals really are tough. It was hard to get through them even with a knife (a dull one, mind you).

The battery had just enough power to wheeze out "charge me" before shutting itself off, so I have it charging now, and will play with it later.

Did yours have your account sync'ed with it when ynou opened it? Strange because when i opened mine, it said someone else's name.

I have seen a few people say the 16 gig models are not shipping, that is what I ordered and as of this morning it is out for delivery:

Dallas, TX, United States 07/17/2012 5:14 A.M. Out For Delivery
07/17/2012 3:40 A.M. Arrival Scan
Hopefully it is the 16 gig and Google didn't mess my order up...it shows 16 gig in my Google wallet account...so I would assume it is in fact the 16 gig model...

The wait is almost over ladies and gents!!!!:five::dancing2:
