running launchPro.. does they get rid of sense completely eg 7 screen etc?

You can still set up 7 screens, the only real drawback is you lose any HTC widgets so no clock/weather app, no friends stream, no calender etc. You can find good replacements though. Most are free, some I paid for. None of them where more than a pound or two.

If you use Launcherpro you have a choice of how many screens you want 3-7 I think, Sense is still there but you have to relaunch your phone using an app such as Home Switcher or you can go through setting to change it. Personally i keep changing from Sense to Launcher every few days

It's one of the standard widgets that comes with the phone. One has white borders one has black, just try them all out as i think they're called the same thing!

Yeah. I haven't really found a good replacement for either the bookmarks or the RSS widget, and I use them a fair bit.
