So... What do you think of the new XENFORO FORUMS??

where is phandroid news?

I used to be able to just click the "blue android" at the top to jump to news. is there still a way to get there?

It isn't allowing me to have 2 lines in my signature. It says my signature is one line too long.

I'm not happy. I want my signature to be

<\
\>tuntman

Also, the old forums used to show the devices people use along with their location and other information when I see their posts. Now I have to go into their info to see this information.

I like it. All the bugs/concerns that I reported have all been addressed. It seems faster, the alerts are great, my forums works better than favorite forums did, and the mobile version is way way better than the old one.

I think that's been lost in all the speedbumps with the upgrade. With all the enhancements Xenforo brings over vB, the site is snappy and responsive.

Woohoo! I have a 'Tools' button - I can edit and report from my mobile.;)

The lack of 'Edit' was just about the only thing that took the edge off it for me, now that's resolved I'm well impressed with the new look forum - happy days!

I find it smooth, fast loading - a huge improvement.

Well done to all concerned in the changeover.

:)

I have to agree. It will take some getting use to, that's for sure. But I do find the 'Reply' edit tools to be far superior to the previous format.

Thanks to all involved in fixing the big issues so quickly. :D

As stated previously, all the posts are emboldened, it was better when you could tell if you read a post, also the country, and carrier do not show, when trying to reply to posts this is essential information. Phil
p.s. It's also a lot slower listing a post!

Good to hear all the goods and bads. Like stated before you will never please everyone. Also when something new comes along you always have to work the bugs out and add new suff or change things over time. Again, I like what was done. :)

This darn job is getting so annoying. Every time I go to post, somebody needs something .... REBOOT YOUR OWN #%^&#^& SERVER for a change!

Anyway ... what I think of Xenforo.

At first, like everyone else, I felt like a stranger in a strange land. It is the bizarro Android Forums ... an alternate reality or dimension. Everything is different, yet oddly the same. (I think Rod Serling pops in right about now.) But, for the short time we've all been here, it's really growing on me.

Android Forums 2.0? I can't wait for the 2.1 or 2.2 versions where most of the big bugs have been quashed and the major issues dealt with.

There are a few things missing (or at least I haven't found them yet) from the old vBulletin, but I'm not too set in my ways that I can't adapt.

I see your servers that need rebooting and raise you one (1) web server that throws an immediate CONNECTION_ABORTED when trying to browse to it in Chrome but works 100% fine in Firefox and IE (and doesn't log any errors), another (1) web server that throws an error page whenever my hacky up/down check script tries to load it but works fine in any actual web browser (I've got eight identical servers and the others work fine with my script, the problem one doesn't even log the error page in its IIS log), one (1) needy helpdesk tech who likes to email me (SERVER support) personally because his printer's network cable is unplugged, and, well, a dozen or so (12+) servers that need to have a handful (6-10) of patches installed and reboots scheduled.

(Fun fact: I'm a *platforms* guy - I don't web server, bro. We do have a team of IIS admins who are supposed to be good that this stuff but, well... they're not. Always fun when all the jobs fall on my team because we're the only ones willing to do them.):p

But yeah, I think Xenforo has HUGE potential. It's going to be completely phenomenal once all the bugs are worked out and feature parity is restored (for the most part). I'm pretty excited for what the future holds!
