Root Speed Tweaks + More

quick question after I replace the build.prop file should I change the permissions to match those of the original build.prop file or does it really matter?

Absolutely..

Save a copy of the original build.prop too ya know:cool:

same concept as a CWM backup(Always have an out in case the phone gets WIGGY)

well i just tryed one of thes to see how it gose and it didnt work. i used

ro.not.buttonlight.timeout=0

and it didnt work. i had to manually put it in cause it wasnt there and my lights still go off while the screen is no. so i am sceptical that this works.

I tested my 3G it works Great!
I used Skype and ooVoo and Voice Quality was perfect. Also love the Lock in Home Memory Tweak. Now I don't have to wait for my apps to appear on the Touchwiz.

Good Job finding!

No, it won't. Most of the these tweaks are on Admired Monster, and Admiral Beast. This doesn't delete the ROM, it just edits the build.prop, to make your phone work better.

In essence then, would it make sense to install these tweaks to the Monster? Also I'm curious to know if the QPST tweak needs to be reinstalled after upgrading to the Beast or Monster if it was previously installed prior to re-installing either one of these. I ask because I have bounced back and forth in trying to come up with the best configuration for my phone, but even after a complete wipe and then re-install when running QPST it shows that the program is already present when I get to the save option.

Added these tweaks onto my phone and it is flying. It is on this site.

> Root phone
> Get ES Explorer or Root Explorer
> Mount 'System' as R/W, NOT R/O
> Go to /system/
> Open "Build.prop" with a Text Editor
> View, Edit, use only approved changes.

Dave, are you running 2.3.4 or 2.3.6?

I need HELP with this!

I don't want to buy an App if it can be done free.

My phone is rooted, and I downloaded ES Explorer.
I don't know HOW to mount 'System' or where to go TO mount it.
I also cannot see the /system/ folder, because alls that shows up is:

/sdcard/

I have NO IDEA what the **** to do, you guys are very helpful, but PLEASE list DETAILED instructions. It's VERY DIFFICTUL for a first-timer like me to do all this without proper instructions.

Thank you.

EDIT: I figuered it out, now I'm not sure what to do. I want to do the changes the original poster posted, but once again, there's NO directions for it. I moved my build file onto my computer and this is what it says:

So, do I just add everything HE put at the bottom of this document, save it, then move it back to my phone, or do I have to manually find what he put and change them? I have NO IDEA!

Help PLEASE!

Thanks always!

holy sudden nanoprocessor batman! this has totally turned the tiny tiny millisecond delay lag that made me resent every time i touched my girlfriends lg screen:stickyman: (or any droid besides a huawei... i feel sorry for anyone stuck with one of those) into smooth responsive "ahhhhh...":joyman: like a cigarette after dinner, or some other deeply repeatedly gratifying activity.:knuddel: To you i say Kudos and a much well deserved feather for your cap. hazzah!

Guys, I need someone to repost the stock build.prop please. The one found on the first page I am having trouble opening!

Thanks. But how will this help me turn my phone back on?

I made a copy of my stock build.prop but cant access it without my phone on. The only way would be through the update.zip that can be accessed through recovery mode.

Does anybody know the answer to this I want to install this new file to speed up my 3g but last time I messed with the build.prop my phone wouldn't turn on either.. Same description he gave that happened to his I was able to install monster on it so it is working now but could I apply this? Samsung admire metro pcs

Welcome to Android Forums abdiel0616:)
You could give this a try to try and increase your 3g
http://androidforums.com/showthread.php?p=3893054
It has improved it for many + it's a less risk than changing the buildprop.

Thanks for the reply... Ive done this already also I applied the 3g/4g optimizer I havent been able to test it well because of low signal inside the house... Is there a fix for more signal?

If I decided to copy paste multiple codes say the whole net speed tweaks section and then rebooted my phone would it cause any problems like a softbrick?

if you do then properly no, i have most of these tweaks already in my build prop and i never soft bricked my phone through changing the it.

will the supercharge script from xda work for this phone? I am going to be rooted one of these phones today for a friend, so addicted to rooting android phones. :)
Yes! These build.prop edits are from those very scripts. I applied the V6 Supercharger tweaks some weeks back and it seems to make my phone feel snappier. Can't really tell if it's placebo or whatnot. But the build.prop edits are only part of the medicine. I suggest applying the actual script and run through the options. I set my launcher to die hard, my kernel and virtual memory tweaks to rock-n-roll and accepted the Memfree Calculator settings for my out of memory groupings as well as the 3g tweaks. If your ROM doesn't run the script on boot have smanager run it. I do notice the UI feels more fluid and it doesn't "stick" like it used to. YMMV.

After Reboot, My phone keeps vibrating.. been doing it for 10 mins now im going to let it vibrate for a bit more but if it dosent work... What should i do im new here? I deffinitly Swapped it Right and im using 2.3.6...
