Sprint 2.1 getting very close

I am all on that one, dude. The only thing I have to complain about is occasional MMS messages slipping through, and YouTube never working. Aside from that, I'm fine with it. It lags, yea, but then again it's a low end android device, what else can be expected? Live and let live. It works fine, and it never leaves me high and dry. Bells and whistles is all I'm really seeing with a 2.1 update. I use GDE because it's a little bit easier to keep everything clean. I don't NEED 7 home screens, heck I barely need 3 (especially with application docks). That and GDE has it's own little conversations widget which lets me keep up with what text messages are going on. Any who, I'm digressing. The whole point on this is: if I want bells and whistles, I can go forth on my own to get them.


The only reason I'd want this update is to fix a few problems this phone has; just like every other smart phone, it's got stupid problems.

Zooming in you can definitely make out a few words, and they do match up (along with formatting and bolded text) to the other leaked screen shots. This would seem to corroborate the other postings.

I concur... The only thing that is missing and I don't think is coming in 2.x anyway is increased BT functionality. The BT profiles that are missing which prevents us from using the Hero like any Smartphone I had before, file transfer (a BIGGG omission) and profile push... But I have lived without it for 7 months now and really don't miss it. I truly don't understand the omission though... what's with BT, something so promising and seemingly left behind by most handset manufacturers. Maybe someone has insight on that?

Anyway... I like it just the way it is and I'm in no rush to upgrade it... update comes or not, no difference to me.

The update is not happening on Friday. 2 Sprint admins on the official board said nope...

I can officially (no, really) state that it is NOT going on Friday, May 7 2010.

When is it going? Sorry, no one has that information for publication.

I can confirm that we are continuing to test the 2.1 build for both Hero and Moment and we are committed to delivering the update in the first half of 2010.

Already sounds like they are backtracking on that "early Q2"

Hm, pretty dumb. They need to get their shit together and finish this.

Anyways..who cares anymore? When 2.1 is released I am getting the evo. How much you want to bet that the evo's release date is no more than 1 month when the Hero get's 2.1?

Hmmmmm... that's a sucka bet!

Sprint has only OFFICIALLY announced the update for First Half 2010, which includes all the way up to June 30th...

The EVO is Slated for Release is June 13th (unofficial)!
HTC EVO 4G (Phone Arena)

Update, No Update...
Root, No Root...
It's still JUST a phone...

How you guys doing??? ... I have been over at the Lounge area and have not been over here where I started a few months ago. Yeah I'm still making stickers and shirts and still waiting on 2.1

Do you think Sprint could be telling us that tomorrows release date is false so we don't get our hopes up and then surprise us with it?

I don't think that was a terrible response, it was my thought too.

They won't tell us when it will be released, what would lend any legitimacy to them refuting rumors, valid or not? We are all on a need to know basis and when it happens, then we will know!

Doubtful. Another Sprint Admin named Sarah posted on the official Sprint forum yesterday that they will "most likely miss the Q2" time frame. It was deleted within 5 minutes but people saw it. So dont be expecting this update anytime soon.
 
Are they coming up with the next version of windows or updating a phone operating system.Windows 8 will be out before Htc and Sprint can get their act together on 2.1.:mad:
