Root Step by Step Rooting Instructions: for Huawei Ascend

hey everybody, im new to the forum and to the androids i just got my ascend about a week ago and i would really like to root and get rid of all this non sense metro has put on, i have read through this forum and the update to 2.2 forum (hoping to get the update since my hubby bought the tapout with 2.2) but no luck so far, i just have one question before i make the jump...do i need to do anything before i root ie. back up or save just incase they do come out with an update to go back to stock? please help..
ok so i took the jump and rooted successful..dlownloaded titanium back up and backed up everthing, but when i try to uninstall some bloatwear it tells me i do not have a buck up for this item..did i do something wrong?

Congrats!!! Glad you chose to come to the android forum, and when you feel comfortable you can try out some custom roms here for you ascend...

okay so i just brought this phone a week ago, and im liking it but it sometimes lags on the keyboard and screen, so im thinking of rooting my phone but im scared, so i have few questions,
1.what happens if you mess up on the steps?
2.What warrenty will be void? like i have one right now, if i still have it will it still work, like lets say i tell metropcs that i lost it, will the warrenty still work????
3.Can someone make a video for this cause i really dont want to break my phone in messing up.
so those are my questions, someone please answer!!!

Have you looked on Youtube? There are videos on rooting, flashing and everything else. There is also a guide here on the forum.

Thanks Nuttmeg, I will be attempting everything that is recommended here, however..... after rooting my phone ,I got Titanium backup, juice defender, I already had LP, removed the suggested bloatware but today my phones performance has been awful! LauncherPro keeps FC any ideas of what I did wrong, oh and my battery is draining sooo fast and this was never a problem until today! Please helpCongrats!!! 1. Get rid of juice defender. 2. If you still have the fc issues after uninstalling jd, try go launcher ex. Sometimes launcher pro doesn't play nice with the stock rom.

yes juice defender is bad for the phone and def a battery killer, also check and make sure gps is not on in settings, location & security...

yes i have,but not for this phone exactly, and i already looked at the guide already and i didnt really like tht one but i will use that one later after i do root it, but thanks anywayss, so wat happens if i mess up in the process? will it break??and will the warrenty of "i lost it" still work, ?

If anything goes wrong you can always flash back to stock. I have not seen a single case where someone was not able to solve a problem they caused. You really cant brick this phone. And the i lost it, how in the world is your carrier going to know you did anything to the phone if they don't have the phone to see it? There are videos specifically for this phone on youtube, just type in how to root a huawei ascend.

, and like i hade a warrenty on my last phone and it got stolen and the mertro pcs people said that i had to pay just $35 to make them send me a new one

They will never know that you rooted or flashed it because if you call and tell them it was stolen, how could they check your phone to see if it was rooted? If you root your phone it does not send an email to metro saying "hey i just rooted". They will never know.

I agree, got a buddy who is a manager at cricket. I know more about his phone than he does. That's why its always wise to research stuff on your own.

What are you talking about? How is metro going to know your phone has been rooted unless you walk into a store and say "Hey i just rooted my phone". Yes it does void your warranty BUT how is metro going to know. Z4root has an unroot option incase you need to take it to the store and if you lose it how is metro going to find it and check?????

Use ATK at your own risk, but when a lot of people use it, then stop using it and say their phone works better when they are not using it, or when someone is having problems and it goes away when they uninstall ATK, then I tend to believe them. I will not use ATK.

Where does the "Titanium Backup" backup its information? like on the SD or what?
also is "Juice Defender" and "Go Launcher" really that good?
one more question, Can i move all my apps on my phone to my 8gb SD card to save the internal memory?

Hello all, I rooted my phone a couple of days ago and followed the directions in this forum, but now I'm unable to view any video on my phone, I tried to restore youtube using titanium backup but it doesn't restore, I tried restoring all but nothing changed, I feel like an idiot, what am I doing wrong? I tried to find youtube in the market to reinstall but cant find it anywhere, please help!!!!!

Well i know why you can't find Youtube in the market is because it is 2.2 and up. So your 2.1 market will not see it. You will need to find the .apk file for it.
