Root Step by Step Rooting Instructions: for Huawei Ascend

Yes.

Shiny, its compatible, I got it working but I can't find an emulator that works with it.

I am a fan of Old school video games, child of the 80's really. Just wondering if anyone had any experience with it or even heard of it.

Oh yea one question, so I lost the bloatware blah blah, what if I liked one app that was bloatware and wanted it back, anyway of getting a APK file for them?

Yes. I would give you the link but I'm on my phone. But go to the main Ascend forum and find a post titled something like "cm7 no metro apps" It was posted by either Nutmeg or Gmash. Which is who I swiped it from. Its a link for the metro app store apk.

I have metro ascend 2.2.2 and tied root using gingerbreak and get this message that says not sure what happened here.Either the exploit failed or the reboot failed. Please manually reboot and see if you have superuser im new and want to root my phone can anybody help me out on here or send me a email at matthewcruce@gmail.com thanks.

make sure you have the latest version of gingerbreak, if it hangs reboot and rerun it ;)

i have done everything as listed but after i press permanent root it will act like its loading for about 1 min then close out nd when i try to open it again it simply say it needs to be forced closed and it wont open period after that

Z4Root only works on 2.1 If you have 2.2 then you need Gingerbreak.

Heres the link to Gingerbreak. Use your stock browser if you arent already to download it. I noticed I couldnt download something from MediaFire from Opera Mini so I switched to the stock browser and it downloaded right away.

GingerBreak-v1.20.apk

Well you are number 4 in like a week it hasnt worked for. I dont know if any of the others have found a way to get it to work. Awkward thing is I dont MetrOff anymore, and MMS works and Ive NEVER had the indicater. Try flashing it a couple times, maybe its not flashing.

Its ok, its not really a problem, it only shows when I turn the screen back on to use it after I turn screen off, other then that I haven't had any problems.

I have already re-flashed and I am glad to say I am only using like 60MB of the internal and like 300 mb of external. Thanks to this place my phone is fast as hell, I actually love it. :)

On that same page as CM 7.2 you'll see a link "Latest Gapps: gapps-gb-20110613-signed.zip" download those and flash them after you flash CM 7.2

Also down below "Helpful hints" you'll see " Download the latest version of MetrOFF: MetrOFF-v1.3-MMS-GB-Edify-CM_ASOP-No_Roaming_indicator_Off_signed.zip" download that too. But dont flash it when you flash CM7.2 and the Gapps. Wait a day and go thru some reboots and let things settle then flash it.

Shiny, do i flash it the same way i did the others? throw the zip in the root of my Sdcard, open up cwm and install from sdcard?

Yup. Theres 2 new builds released yesterday and today. Same builds but will different kernels. The one with 0912 has the 748mhz kernel (Alot of phones wont boot that kernel) and the 0913 has the 710 kernel.

Both can be found of PG's wiki page:
CM7-Ascend - Prepaid Android

And heres the newest gapps:
gapps-gb-20110828-signed 7.2.zip

If you want to run the 748mhz build, I have an "edited" version of it that I can throw up on Mediafire, if you want. Its about 11mb lighter, because I always pull builds apart and delete things I never use such as all the ringtones and all but 2 of the notification alerts, some of the themes, the Google calender and calender sync, live wallpapers, the email app, pro tips, CM Stats, Rom Manager, the DSP equalizer, and a few other small things just to lighten it up and get rid of everything I dont use before I flash it. Easier to delete that way.

thanks for the update.

Hey this new update doesn't have a market app.

Here you go.

PG's CM 7.2 0912stripped.zip

For anyone, this is the same PG 0912 build with the 748mhz kernel, but stripped of the stuff I personally dont use as mentioned above in my previous comment. If you want any of the stuff I deleted out of it as mentioned above, go to PlayfulGods wiki and download the original.

Did you flash the gapps? The market is in there. Those are the same ones I used. I only changed a file in it that has nothing to do with any of the apps because me and some others were having trouble flashing them to the 0728 build

should i flash this one with the latest gapps update too? and should i also flash the metroff mms thingy too?

Yeah. I used the same exact gapps I posted a couple comments ago. Yeah. I personally dont flash the metroff because strangely my mms works for me right away and I never get the roaming indicator for some reason. But yeah flash it after a reboot or 2.
