Still no update 4.3

Has anyone tried the old Google Framework trick? For some reason it does not work for me. What I mean is when you clear data then go to update system, it should have a date that says something like 1969. Mine no longer does that.

Why is anyone with the Sprint GS3 waiting for the OTA? Use the link provided by bearballz, copy the update to your external SD card, and install yourself. Couldn't be easier. I'm quite happy with the update so far!

I downloaded the update zip for 4.3,however I've yet to do anything with it yet because I have a few questions. First, does it need to be on an external SD card, or will internal storage work? Second, will it wipe everything? And third, I'm not rooted, does that make a difference?

Yes it needs to be on the root of the SD card, and no it will preserve all your apps, files, etc, even though I would recommend you do a factory reset once you update the phone to 4.3 and lastly no, this is for the non-rooted stock VM GS3.

I actually heard peeps talkin bout that in a podcast the other night. Ive known that trick since back in the day but they were saying how it could be doing harm and i was falling asleep while listning so cant explain any more sorry. It was either the latest Android Central podcast or the PocketNow podcast (both on youtube) i think it was the android central one. Grr wish i could remember what the issue is.
Anyway as people have said, dont get too excited.
Imo 4.4 is a huge upgrade compared to 4.2/4.3
So if youre an android enthusiast, either sideload samsung 4.3 or better still, flash a 4.3 or 4.4 custom rom ;)

I'm scared. Don't wanna mess anything up.

The Google Framework trick can cause problems with the Google Play Store. I've had this happen a few times. The only way I know to fix it is go into the Google accounts in settings and remove the account and add it again. I hate going through all that trouble.

i'm getting brave.... going to try the update like yall said soon. i have to do a stock recovery soon anyways because i messed up my phone with google voice so i decided i might as well make it worth it. cross your fingers.

I am guessing they stopped rollout again. I don't want to flash with bearballz link because I heard the OTA is a different revision. I still have not gotten the OTA.

I just cant not find that username and avatar hilarious lol. Sorry Bear i swear i mean it in the nicest way possible bro :beer:

Well, I got all my stuff back and so far it's working great!! I love the fading notification bar and the "light" option when swyping to unlock the phone! So pretty. The OS has worked flawlessly so far. I doubt there is a different version in the sprint OTA. This one is beautiful. I haven't noticed any battery drain issues but it's hard for me to tell 'cause I don't get service at home so my phone dies fast anyways from constantly searching. (country life lol)

I have a rooted VM SPH-L710 and just received the firmware update notice when I connected to Samsung Kies. Received the same warning about updating if phone has been altered that someone else posted previously.

Are you saying you're on virgin mobile and got the update through kies?
