Root Stuck at bootloader

MY kid's phone. Long story/short: Phone fell in some water. Was dried out. Put battery in and it seemed like it was gonna load fine. Big M, Droid, Red eye and then this pops up:
_______________________________
Bootloader
30.04

Battery OK
OK to Program
Connect USB
Data Cable

OK. Now what do I do? RSD Lite and sbf? I put this in this section because it seems like a problem that may have been faced in here before.
No, it was not rooted. No it was not ROMed.

Help!!

are you able to get into stock recovery? maybe try wiping data / factory reset and see if that helps (though I doubt it will).
I've never seen one go from the red eye into the bootloader before which is why I recommended the sbf
but being that the phone went into water, none of it may matter.

I'm guessing that's seriously bad news.

There's virtually no way for individual data to become corrupted because of a dunking, so since the device started to boot and then launched you into the bootloader, it sounds like there was some kind of hardware failure.

Certainly worth loading up RSDlite and trying to SBF - that's your last-ditch effort here. That and making really sure that it's dry inside the phone.

When I first tried to flash GB directly over Apex 1.4 the same thing happen to me. Tried about 10 different things, Battery pulls, holding power and home, holdong volume, camera and power, etc. Nothing would get out of bootloader so I just SBF and everything worked fine.

I have no friggen idea what I just did(most likely nothing) but the phone suddenly now works!

I hooked it up to computer, downloaded RSD Lite to computer, downloaded .320sbf. Tried to get to the sbf file via RSD and couldn't find it. RSD did recognize the phone. I turned the phone off and back on and it loaded up just fine.
It's set up the way it was before the incident and is on .340.

I betcha there was still some moisture in the phone and it's finally dried out. You were getting a short during the boot process and it was throwing you into the bootloader.

If it were me, I'd turn it off and throw it in a bag of rice or place it in a warm spot in the sunshine for a while.

Been in front of an A/C unit and then in a bag of rice for over 36 hours before I attempted anything.

I prefer a dehumidifier for drying phones but our's is broken.

i would sbf regardless, and wait a few days of turning it off and on every other hour or so, (without rooting) just keep it stock, and if it runs fine for 2 days straight with rebooting it every other hour you should be ok, but if it does it again i would call in for a replacement.

This happened to me as well. I wiped everything and still ended up at the bootloader some how - while driving, haha. I had to have my friend whip out my laptop and SBF my phone on the highway.

Ha Ha. That reminds me of years ago when the check engine light stayed on my car the way to fix it is put a piece of black electrical tape over the light. Problem solved!

lol, well nail polish remover will in fact take away the red and it will look as if it has never changed, of course when it does get wet it wont change :p so take care of it that way, i sure as hell would

now you do, and actually the water damage indicator is not on the battery, it is infact inside the phone, its hard to get to, you need a special screw driver in order to get the cover off to get to the strip, and im not sure if there is a way they can find that out, and make you pay an even bigger fee, so you can only do it at your own risk

Me neither, but I'm sure it will leave some kind of odor behind?

there is no odor left behind, if you dont believe me try it out, and wait for it to dry, it does take a while to color the whole thing, so be patient. but if you think it leaves an odor, post it here, then go test it out and tell me if it does :)

i know the answer to does it or not :p
