Root Stuck on Clockworkmod Recovery!!

so im still her stuck not knowing what to do. i tried installing rom but it kept saying failed . i dont know if i am doing this right. also wasnt i supose to have superuse on my phone ? cause i havent done that? scotty when you get back on please make my phone run again!

It's a bummer you can't do a battery pull. Can you use fastboot commands to get to your bootloader? With phone hooked to computer use

Adb reboot bootloader

Can you get to your bootloader like this? Sometimes this works when other methods won't.

OK...
Few quick things.
HTC has a fail safe. Hold volume up and down at the same time hold power.
That is essentially a battery pull.

Can you tell us what exactly you did. Before you got stuck hanging at the splash screen.

well i finally got to install the rom but once i installed it then i reboot but the rom never loads just stays stuck on the htc boot animation thingy

remember, you were going to do this:

-download viper rom
-extract a copy of viper rom on the pc. put boot.img into your android folder
-fastboot boot recovery as described above.
-place rom on sd card.
-wipe data,cache,dalvik cache
-flash rom
-attempt to reboot. if it fails, then follow the directions above to flash the boot.img
then if the reboot failed, you were going to do this:
ok,if it does not boot after the rom install, then here is what you will need to do:

on your PC,extract the rom download and find the boot.img, and place it into your android/folder

power back on into hboot, select fastboot, and then open a cmd window, and change to the android directory .

now flash the boot image with this command:
fastboot flash boot imagename.img (prolly just: fastboot flash boot boot.img )

and that, should finally get you up and running.

if the rom installed successfully, then prolly you just need a kernel(boot image). so if you can flash the boot image from the rom,it should boot.

in the event you need to run the ruu, download the one agentc13 linked(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1941402)

to run the ruu, heres what you will need to do:
-download ruu
*charge phone to 100%
-place phone in fastboot(select fsatboot from hboot menu),plug in
-open a cmd window, change to android directory
-fastboot devices (if you get serial number, then procede)
-fastboot oem lock
the phone will try and reboot,or it will give you a security warning, and lock you into bootloader. dont worry, this is normal.
-make sure the phone is in fastboot. run the .exe file(the ruu you downloaded) on the PC as administrator. when it finishes,it will reboot, you will be stock again.

if you have trouble getting the ruu to run,you can re-unlock the bootloader at any time with your original token.

after you are up and running,if you want to reroot,a couple tips:
-i personally do not use clockwork, when possible. id condiser staying with twrp recovery,or possible ext 4 if it is available for the one s.
*do not use superboot. after re-unlocking with your original token you can use fastboot flash recovery recoveryname.img to install your recovery,or fastboot boot recoveryname.img to temporarily launch it into memory
-you may want to just install superuser and stick with a stock rooted rom while you get the feel of being rooted and learn how to flash roms. you can root the stock rom very simply by downloading superuser from here, then simply flash it in recovery
-in the future, make sure you always make a backup of a good working rom,so youll have something to fall back on. then,do not delete it. this situation would have been alot easier on you if you had a backup to restore.

okay i am going to try all of this again

okay i am going to try all of this again

cool,if you can get your boot image flashed, you should be able to boot.

if not,you may have to run the ruu.

im off to work, but i will try my best to watch if you have troubles. in a worse case, ill be home around 7 EST,so if you dont here from me for awhile,im not ignoring you :)

so i just tried the first two steps and it doesnt reboot . it just stays stuck on the htc animation boot with the red words.

so i am going to do the ruu now cause it wont boot the root. . does this guarantee that ruu will make my phone work? i dont care about rooting anymore i just need it to work

unfortunately,we cant gaurnatee you anything. especially since we are unable to obtain enuff info to even figure out what happened to your phone in the first place.

on the bright side, since htcdev unlock protects the bootloader and radios,it is next to impossible to brick an s-on,htcdev unlocked device with software flashing,so the chances of any permanent, irreparable damages are slim to none ;)

have you ran the ruu yet? are you sorted?

I didn't read the rest of this thread, because, well, i'm lazy, but i am here to try and help you.

in CWM if you scroll to the bottom under Mounts and Storage, Press that, then Mount SD. ( i dont think you have an SD card, but it will mount the internal "SD" )

Then you can pick a custom ROM that you want, put it on your phone since it should now be mounted, then press back. This will unmount your phone.

Then Wipe Data/Factory Reset, Wipe cache. Wipe everything.
Install from Zip.
navigate to the rom you chose, scroll all the way though the nos to the yes, select, watch it do its magic.

Wonder how much of this has been said, like i mentioned, i didn't read this thread.

yep that was covered in the first few posts. we have moved on from the CWM prollem, and working on getting the phone to just boot and work. the next step is to run the factory ruu.

but thanks for your efforts. :)

erik917,any luck?

Hello all, I have the same problem! However, I can't get the fastboot boot command to work. I can get the serial number with the adb(?) command, but when I try to boot with a rom from my c:\android folder, the command prompt just stalls saying waiting for device.
Can someone help? Thank you in advance!
