Help Swype Missing on Optimus LG M how to reinstall?

I rooted the droid and all was fine. I got a overzealous and removed swype by mistake. I tried several factory resets and the message I get problem loading widget. Went to corporate MetroPCS and they want to give me a refurbished yeah right! The phone 2.5 weeks in my posession and I dibble in linux a lot so I am gamed. I downloaded the LGMobile Support Tool and it hangs and never completes installation on winxp pro. What is my next step I am excited about fixing this problem and it is fun.

You have a few choices, you could put custom recovery on and flash a new rom, swype will be included in it.

You could restore back to unrooted factory, an start over.

or you could download the swype beta

You really cant go wrong any way you decide to go.

I'd start over. Re-root, then freeze or rename apps rather than get rid of them totally.

To everyone thanks for the advice, look forward to fix my droid, I love the challenge but I can not type at all on the droid. Am I able to do all suggested above?

Can I install by downloading and transferring to the droid? I cannot type anything at the moment so going directly to the site for download is no good for me.

Sign up on your PC using a gmail account, they'll send you a link to download the beta, which you'll navigate to using your phone's gmail app.

Problem with that is you need to type in your user name and password to access the beta.

You should have android keyboard, comes with android swype is just a extra one that is usually enabled by default.

Long press on any text entering spot in an application and a box saying choose input should appear click it and chose android keyboard.

You can also pick any keyboard from the Market website and as long as you are logged in, you can install it from the website. Then once you have a keyboard, then you can go ahead with the Swype install. The default keyboard should be there though, unless you removed it.

Thanks for all the advice but the optioned offered by new optimus is close to working. a pop screen reads select input method but there is nothing there to select. Open to another idea. I can not believe how attached I have become to the droid it is like carrying your office with you from the office. I am open to more suggestions? It there away for me to root, download a full re-install via the usb cable and then install?

You can after you root put custom recovery on and then flash a custom rom, they have swype in them and that sounds like one of the best options.

Custom recovery? LG Optimus M can you navigate me to the instructions? I placed term.apk on the droid but can not do anything because I do not have the ability to type!

If I purchase and install will I be able to type? then do a custom recovery?
You can do a lot of things using your computer, connect the phone to the computer using the usb cable, make sure the phone is in debug mode, menu settings applications development check mark usb debugging.

If you dont have it yet download android sdk you will need adb.
With that you can install apps and flash the recovery. You can find instructions

Never had a reason to push an app, so I hope you can get this to work.
I sent you an email with attachments and links so you can choose you poison.

adb is not recognized that the device is attached:

C:\>adb devices
* daemon not running. starting it now *
* daemon started successfully *
List of devices attached

C:\>

I check the hardware manager and it is listed under ADB Interface plus the Modem section. I type the install command anyways adb install -r f:\droid\keyboard\com.betterandroid.betterkeyboard8.apk and receive a message that no devices are attached. I see the two icons in the upper left corner for usb, and usb debugging. Any advice? Still excited about getting this work.

If the device is not seen that usually means one of 2 things first your drivers are not installed or not recognized correctly try reinstalling drivers with out the phone plugged into usb.

Or 2 did you connect as mass storage device?
can you browse the sd card, you do not want it connected that way for adb.

I can see the device in ubuntu linux and the port number. Question when I issue an
./adb install command am I to use the -r or -l switch? adb is working fine for me in ubuntu linux 11.04 desktop.

new optimus i was able to push better keyboard onto the LG Optimus MS690 using ubuntu linux plus the key. the commands are:

./adb install -r /media/Elements/droid/keyboard/Better*.apk
./adb install -r /media/Elements/droid/keyboard/com.betterandroid.betterkeyboard8.apk

Thanks a lot. New Optimus I friggin' love this stuff what a rush plus a challenge!
