The Atrix Pre-Order Page Is Live

Hi new member here, my problem is with the Att web site in the preorder for the Atrix only not the other smart phones. In the data pro plan (step down from the plan with the teathering) i can pick to be my plan an when i look at the details of the plan it says- $25 for the first 2 gb of data an $15 for each "200 mb" of data after that. Thats $60 for my next 1 gb of data if i go over the first 2 gb!!!!!!! Is this a error in Att's web site? Does anyone else have this same info appear for them? Or is ATT really trying to stick a fat hog in the ass an charge this fee because the atrix is a 4G (suppose to be ) phone? As i mentioned i checked sum of the other smart phones an they have the standard $25 for 2 gb an $10 for each aditional 1 gb. (If this is the real deal, guess Att wants to make up thier proffit margins from all those un used Laptop docks!) The datapro plan with teathering has the $10 per 1gb charge if i go over my 4gb limit
 
~$300 off contract is pretty sweet. I need to find our AT&T account info (the Wifey changed it recently) and see what it looks like for me, in terms of upgrade options, etc.
 
I just got off the phone with at&t, and I was told that they aren't doing anymore preorders because it isn't working, and it has been pushed back until tomorrow.
 
I upgraded an existing family plan phone line today at the ATT Store. Got the phone for $199 and the Dock for $499. Didnt go for the Bundle because I figure I'll just use it on WiFi and the mobile browser in full screen if I want. The ATT consultant actually told me I only needed to tether to get the bundle, but that firefox would work without tethering. Everything I heard tells me he's wrong, but maybe I can have some sort of argument with ATT and get some money back when it doesnt work!

They said I should get it sometime between today and March 6th.
 
I totally agree with you - and I'm just helping to get the word out, mirroring my post... I think this is totally intentional on AT&T's part.

BEWARE! AT&T greed is striking again. On the ATRIX pre-order page, you'll notice that the $25/2GB plan will charge you $15 for each 200MB you go over your 2GB allotment. This plan on any other phone charges you only $10 per 1GB of overage past your 2GB allotment. This is RIDICULOUS! They are so guilty of "bait and switch" on this it's not even funny. Way to take advantage of consumers who are trying to quickly reserve this hyped up device. This is being done only on the individual plan (which makes no sense). If you sign up for a family plan on your ATRIX, the old 3G handset 2GB plan with 1Gb of overage is still offered. This guy points it out best, although his opinion seems to be that this is an honest mistake, which I highly doubt based on AT&T's track record:

UNBELIEVABLE!!! I really wanted this phone - even after the ridiculous accessory pricing - now I'm reconsidering my 9 year loyalty to this company.
 
how long after you ordered did you see the actual order on att's order status page? Just picked up one off contract for $499. Love my iphone4, but I enjoy android as well.
 
Hi guys - at what point in the checkout process are you supposed to select a data plan? When I attempt to preorder the phone, the phone incorrectly shows up as $299 in my cart. It appears that I'm able to order the phone, but I'm never forced to add a data plan to my line. I do not currently have one and wonder if the plan would just be added when I use the phone...

the att rep is correct.. firefox does work without tethering when using multimedia/laptop dock... the tethering addon jus gives u bundled pricing...
 
I wish it were that simple - but in the customer service exchange @ the URL i posted - a sales manager confirmed the plan. The fact is this is not your typical "DataPro" package - it's renamed "DataPro 2GB for HSPA+/4G Smartphones".

It's likely that they changed the DataPro plan for 4g phones to encourage people to sign up for the 4GB plan for $45. Think about it - besides the advantage of tethering, 2GB extra at $10/GB = the 4GB for $45 plan. Seems like a sneaky way to up-sell someone to something they aren't totally sure they need - that is if they even noticed that it says $15/200MB.

I hope I am wrong.

Do you have a corporate sponsorship/group discount on your account? (aka FAN #) This can cause all sorts of problems. I'd suggest removing the corp association, upgrading, and then put the FAN discount back into place. I have a FAN # discount on my account and cannot select the data plan either - but if I don't log in and try to purchase it with a new account - it seems to work just fine.

but it will only work once the FAN # is removed.
 
i order about 215 PM CST over phone with no issues. of course I had tried preorder when it went live then had livechat trying to work order issues out. they told me to wait until premier call support opened up. I called them and they told me to wait 24 hours for online ordering or order over phone but i'ld have to do a mail-in-rebate. earlier this morning I read they were taking orders over phone with the discount so I called back and viola, it is done with an additional $50 discount. so try again if you don't mind waiting on hold for 35+ minutes, total sale took 5 minutes to complete.

Same thing here but I found later that I was calling the regular AT&T line and not the Premier one...Of course, they were closed when I found out about it lol I am also determined to get it at $149.99 as did many other people.
 
I was actually told that by the premier number, and I even called again to make sure that it was right, and I was told by another guy that they are just telling everyone that they are working on fixing it, and to keep trying every hour or so or wait until tomorrow.
 
OK, back from the Mexican Feast-o-Rama :)

Here's what I'm seeing, and note that I did an upgrade/contract extension back when I got my Captivate, on July last year, so I'm only ~7 months into my current contract:

So that looks to me like another 2 year is $299, minus the pre-order discount of $100, which makes it the same as a regular renewal!

Heck, if I can get $150-200 for my Captivate, this will be a freebie :D

I just ordered mine that way and still was able to get a $100 off. So off contract I paid $399 for just the phone.
 
I selected the upgrade option but I do not have one available until Jan 2012 but it did give me a $100 online instant rebate. Maybe it is because I am always buying new phones. LOL

OK, cool, thanks for the info. The $100 off you got (and I'm getting) I assumed was something about a pre-order discount.

My upgrade won't be up till July 2012, but I'm getting a contract/upgrade price of $299. We've been with AT&T for like 10 years, two phones, other services, so maybe they're cutting me an extra break.
 
I'm also getting the $200 two-year contract price for lines that arent upgrade eligible with any other phone. It's weird because I'm not supposed to be getting this price.... same thing DT is getting.

Yeah, I'm trying to decide whether I should jump on this ASAP.

Maybe they flagged my Captivate for a special "early update" discount since the GPS is wonky :D

I see there's an HSPA+ 2GB Data Pro for $25/mo, or HSP+ 4GB Data Pro with Tethering for $45/mo.

That's probably fine, I'm on unlimited but I've _never_ gone over 2GB, hell, I had me and the woman tethered for a week, and we didn't even break 400MB :)
 
The easiest solution is to just call AT&T and order over the phone. I was able to keep my current unlimited data plan with the upgrade price of $199. Just dial 611 and talk to some one.

Talked to ATT Customer Service.

They said that if this is the case with the $199 price on the lines that still have contracts, they'll just add a new line to your account and a new 2 year contract for that line. The only reason it's not able to do so right and give you a number for the new line is because it's a pre-order and it wont be processed till the phone comes out.
