The HTC EVO 4G off-topic Banter thread

If you want text to always zoom during multi touch I believe you have to take off over view mode in the browser settings.
 
Does ther speech to text work well? I am coming from a TP2 and am worried a little about using the on screen keyboard but with th escreen being so big I think I'll be ok. I heard it had Swype on it then someone with the phone confirmed it didn't but said you could get it or a similar one for Android. I'm juts so sued to my TP2 keyboard and the screen tilting but I'm gonna like this thing with the kickstand watching you tube.

The speech to text is pretty darn good. You just can't take a breath, or it will think you are finished.

Cool, and thanks. i am on my samsung rant and don't know if the thanks i have been giving you have been recived. i am going to be pre ordering it monday, and BB said they don't need to touch the phone to activate it. which is sweet. thanks again

those detail in those pictures look...'busy'. is this what they are referring to with the 'high megapixels is a misleading stat' thing i keep reading about? i don't know much about it.

I haven't looked for any accessories, as of yet.

I'm carrying mine around in a PSP soft case. :)

I'm going to do a battery drain test after I get my full charge.

camera is pretty good for a phone. the camera on the evo won't compete with the traditional dummy camera or professional camera because the lens isn't made like a tradtional camera. tradiional camera's have difference lens and use some reflection technology to capsure it's image using quick shutter.
 
what would it take to get a more 'traditional' camera lens on a phone, or is that wholly unfeasible?

not too sure, but nokia have said that they will be the first to try to build a high quality phone with the conventional camera quality lens in the phone.

SWEET GPS didn't fail me today. i used the navigation built in by google today and that thing was faster in locking in my location and finding the location that i wanted to go to. it was dead accurate and it was very clear on directions
 
So, have you had any random people out in public recognize your Evo and ask about it? Or do you feel inclined to try to show it off to random people who may or may not care, or just bust it out in a crowd and see if anyone notices it? If I had one before the release date I would feel like it's a great privilege, I mean, you're holding an object in your hand that thousands of people covet and can barely wait for. Have you considered that?

Don't you like how the navigation icon moves when you turn the phone?
It's pretty accurate.

I went to Best Buy today and canceled my pre-order.
One of the employees was holding a dummy unit and showing it to someone.
I stood off to the side of her and played with mine.(that sounds so wrong)

I let the folks hold it, but not for too long.....LOL


I would like to go to the Sprint Store and let customers test drive mine, since they don't have any displayed. I may do that sometime before launch.
 
Headphones? I'm curious to know if headphones with a mic/button work the same as the iPhone.

Could you see if these work?
1. Device is asleep/locked using the headphone button press once to play music
2. While listening to music double click the headphone button to skip to next track
3. While listening to music triple click the button to go back.

Hey evolution how did you activate you're Google I/O Evo on your current line. I'm having trouble with sprint. Cause its already activated under a demo account
