The HTC EVO 4G off-topic Banter thread

Hey evolution how did you activate you're Google I/O Evo on your current line. I'm having trouble with sprint. Cause its already activated under a demo account

Did you call the number on the paper insert?
I test activated mine, and the website told me it's already activated.

there's a special number to call. please refer to page 5. i've posted the paperwork on that. it should be in the attachment or check the paperclip next to the thread!

Sorry to ask this again, but any more battery commentary after another 24hrs?
Battery won't be able to last more than 24 hrs that's for sure. Not sure if Andriod 2.2 will be able to pull that off. I think the reason for this is because everything on the phone is very data intensive. It takes a lot of sending and receiving through networks. You would need to carry a charger or USB cable while your on the run.

So has no one tried plugging this thing into the tv yet. Can we do other stuff besides watch movie's and view photo's. Why is this so hard to get answered.

cause they probably dont have the cable yet. calm down give them time. they are being nice to give us the information they are already giving, they dont have to tell us anything. and make you wait til june 4th and find out on your own.

Heck yes, but I'm going to let the free trial run out before I activate mine.
Someone earlier mentioned call forwarding.

Forward your main number to the EVO and talk away.
Unfortunately, you can't forward text messages. :(

this is why you folks should be using google voice.

I switch my evo to my primiary line this morning at about 8am PST....

My first impressions after 12 hours is
Pro's

Quality Build is very good to excellent
Camera Quality is good.
Signal is strong- not sure what the other reviewers were talking about.
Screen is awesome- Watched a music video on it and I was floored.
Android OS is nice and new for me still learning.
Customization Customization- Coming from the BB family I am loving it.

Con's
Battery Cover can be a little diffcult to remove- Welcomed contrast from my BB Tour wiggle cover.

so you cancelled the free 1 month trail and put the phone on your plan? you called the number on the reference paperwork that came with the Google I/O conference right? More insight for info hungry people! haha

those detail in those pictures look...'busy'. is this what they are referring to with the 'high megapixels is a misleading stat' thing i keep reading about? i don't know much about it.

what would it take to get a more 'traditional' camera lens on a phone, or is that wholly unfeasible?

The problem is the lens on these phones are VERY small so they can not absorb much light so you are left with a lot of "noise." They slightly compensate for this by usually having a longer exposure time than a regular camera but that makes getting a blurry photo a large possibility if your subject is moving or you are not holding the camera perfectly still.

Basically they have to make the lens and censor bigger because there really is no magical way to capture more light. However this would lead to a bigger and thicker phone.

I hate people bragging about this as an 8MP phone like it is a DSLR because a 5MP point and shoot would destroy it any day. That said it's a pretty damn good camera phone and it will be a huge improvement from my iPhone 2G, so I'm happy.
