The HTC EVO 4G off-topic Banter thread

when you get a chance can you take a picture of the same web page on the iPod Touch and Evo, it would be cool to see how much more of the web page is visible with the extra screen real estate on the Evo.

hit thanks! i want more thanks than that JACKSON guy! LOL

Whoever will be the first one to get an hdmi cable and see if the output works for everything like a real video out, or if it's just for videos/photos, will be my hero and I will thank a million times. That's the biggest piece of info that's still undetermined.

Ive tried this on several websites and ironically u dont get more of the page on the EVO. Well u technically do because the Ipod has a bottom bar while the EVO doesnt. But other than that without zooming at all u dont get much more. Everything is just bigger and more visible

I have the cable but no Evo. I know that Bill ordered a cable, so hopefully they get him his soon!

Thanks! I sure hope they'll let us activate it on our existing account on the 4th!

You guys you CANT do it online because the phone is activated on your 30 Day trial period. YOU MUST call and they will do it no problem. The process involves them deactivating the trial and transferring # to your new Evo. The call takes about 20-30 minutes to get through it all.. I activated mine on my number works great!

Have we figured out which video formats the phone can play out of the box? This will be my first Android phone. I will look on google to see if there is a standard for Android phones, but it would be nice to get confirmation from some people who already have an Evo. Can it play .mov files for instance?

Thanks!

well been using this phone for about a day a now and it is by far the best phone I have every used. However comparing battery life to the Hero that I have its definatelly not as good and I guess that make sanse its the same battery as the hero except the evo needs more juice with this gourgeus screen. Oooh and by the way the is the best screen I have seen so far with my own eyes. Everything is just so clear.

Yes! This is one of the most important features for me. I wanna use the EVO to replace my computer but no one still knows if we can use this thing to surf the web on the TV.

Yeah web browsing on your big screen tv via the Evo would be amazing. If it's possible, then I'm going to get like a 15ft hdmi cable. I guess it's pointless to speculate when someone should be able to test this soon enough, but my guess is that the output is controlled by the application you have open, and isn't a universal video output, but I hope I'm wrong. I just really want it to work for the web browser, games using the evo's accelerometer for steering etc., and obviously videos/photos. I can't picture how vertical portrait mode screens and screen rotation would look with the output if it was an "always on" mode.

I really hope there can be a dock available that would charge a 2nd battery at the same time as the phone, like those old Motorola StarTACs. I would definitely need much more juice than that a day and I won't always have access to a charging port (car or AC outlet). :(

Hopefully Seidio would come out with an extended battery solution. Hopefully something to the tune of 2500 mAh or more.
idk if this is what u r looking for but here:
