The HTC EVO 4G off-topic Banter thread

With the EVO, I will probably be using random pairs of headphones around my office or the FM transmitter in my car (3.5mm plug). When you make or answer a phone call, can you use the phone's mic? or do you NEED to be using a 3.5mm cable w/ a mic?

Anybody?

Have anyone here with an EVO considered or tried to install Froyo? If so have you attempted the benchmarking tests? I'd live to see how Froyo on the EVO pans out..

Edit*** If you have an EVO and a Wii, please let me know if the Wii controller app works... i was under the impression that it does not work for Sense Phone's however with Sense turned off if may work... anyone willing to try?

How can you change Themes on the Evo? Do you have to 'root' it like jail breaking an iPhone? Sorry if this sounds dumb but I know nothing about Android, HTC, or Sprint.

First android here for me coming from a Treo Pro (Winmo 6)

I'm wondering specifically about Exchange support. Any shortcomings? Is it supported to sync to multiple exchange accounts? What doesn't work that is currently available on Winmo devices?

thanks

I just use the stock "mail" app. Easy to setup for single or multiple accounts

Sent from my HERO200 using Tapatalk

Does it do contacts and calendar too or only sync the email?

Also, does it sync all the folders or only the inbox?

Sorry if these are stupid questions, but I don't have an Android device. I will have the Evo on launch day though so I want to make sure my email works...

Hey my brother has that stereo too. Do you have an EVO already. If not, do you know what kind of capabilities the two will have together? My brother is getting an EVO too, but he's not a forum nerd like me, so he won't come looking for anything.
I dont have an evo, BUT i know people who have newer HTC android phones they use w/ this radio have had to update the bluetooth firmware in the radio to get things to work right, there is a thread about that on the forum I linked to in the last post

Will I be able to do this and if so how. Can I take a pic with the camera and then just select send pic in text or what.

iPhone can do it, and its a good question because on my HTC Hero you can NOT take a pic and just send a text message because you will get the error message that the file is to big! the iPhone actually shrinks the file size so you can send photos or video.

I read somewhere that the Evo now does this but i know it sucks on the Hero to have to know i want to text it so i have to change the resolution on the camera to low.

Must have been in fairly recent history (like last 6-8 months) cause it still couldnt do it at the 3GS launch, IIRC

The US iPhone gained MMS in September; the OS had support in June 2009.

MMS functionality including sending vCards, pictures, audio files, video (iPhone 3GS only), and Google Maps locations. (MMS available only for iPhone 3G and 3GS with carriers that support it). Enabled by AT&T for the US on September 25, 2009.

when i updated to 2.1 on my hero, it automatically resizes pics for mms now
