The HTC EVO 4G off-topic Banter thread

I haven't seen this question asked yet. How hot does the evo run?

I have a moment currently but am still in my 30 day window. One of my issues with it is heat. It consistantly gets to 43c and feels uncomfortable to hold. It has horrible battery life as well. I have a replacement phone I got yesterday due o the ovheating issue and this one is not only bworse it is down to 30% after less than 2 hours! I suspect heat has something to do with that.

How does evo compare?
 
Quick question to HTC EVO owners...

When you turn the phone on with the button at the top, do you always have to slide that thing down on the screen to use the phone? Is there a option to disable that need to "slide to unlock?"

And a quick gripe: The EVO charger looks ******ed (the part you stick into the wall). I don't understand why they couldn't have made it smaller or even with the fold-in prongs.
 
I have the same one but I never use it anymore.. I'll just put a movie or a couple recorded Tivo shows on my phone now to watch it. I just want my EVO already. LOL!

My dad used to say, "Some folks would complain if you hung 'em with a new rope." :) Seriously though, it's a minor thing and not worth getting to riled up about. After waiting all this time, I wouldn't care if the charger looked like this:

the slide to unlock is so you don't mess up the phone in your pocket, i don't care about it because my rant hardly ever unlocks when i want it to

yea i just have it hooked up to the tv with my dvd collection on it, so if i want to watch a movie its right there. but yea i can't wait for the EVO

Funny enough, remember when photos of the box were first revealed? Everyone thought it'd be absolutely gigantic? Then photos came out at Google IO of folks carrying around the box, and we all realized that it's actually quite compact? :p

Another quick question for Evo owners:

I saw when my friend put his Droid into it's dock on it's side, the phone kind of turned into this cool alarm looking thing, does the E o do anything when turned to the side? I was thinking at night when it's plugged in to charge, I could flip out the kick stand and use it as a alarm clock just like the Droid.

Or maybe there is a app that can do that?
 
I moved this to the main EVO forum because there's about to be a huge rush of people getting their EVOs and they'll want to announce it (rightfully so!). Any "got it" threads will be merged into this one. Enjoy your EVOs and I will be joining you in this thread in less than three hours :)
 
Just picked up my Evo at Radio Shack, and man, this thing is sexy. Getting it was an ordeal though...at first the associate insisted that I could only use the $50 deposit gift card on accessories. And supposedly they "have" to power it on to activate service. Ugh. I gritted my teeth while she tried to pry the phone's plastic wrapper open with a pair of scissors. Aaand that's why I prefer to open my own shit.
