Just got my Evo Monday and I love it! I came from the Hero, which is a great phone, but the Evo has surpassed my expectations.
Only problem I have had is the charger was d.o.a., a local store gave me a Hero charger and said come back in a few months, they should have Evo chargers by then.

Let me preface my comments by stating that I LOVE my EVO. My "build quality" is flawless and my battery life is fantastic. In short EVO rocks! 4G on the other hand, not so much...
For my DMV (D.C., MD, VA) peeps, I was at the Nats game last night and I decided to fire up the ol EVO during the half-innings when Strasburg wasn't pitching and guess what? I had a constant 4G signal that was full strength! My phone was FLYING!
Up until last night, I wasn't completely sold on 4G because the signal in D.C. is patchy (at best). But after getting a consistent, strong 4G connection for an extended period of time at Nationals Park, my love for the EVO grew exponentially! So for what it's worth, if you ever find yourself taking in a Nats game in D.C., you will have a strong 4G signal. This is particularly handy for those times when the Nats start stinking up the joint...
That said, I am still not completely sold on 4G, and I won't be sold on the value of 4G until I can go anywhere in the District and get a signal comparable to the one at Nationals Park. Cmon Sprint! You can DO this!

I had this same issue. Emailed Sprint CS...they told me to order the charger/car combo they sell and email them a copy of the receipt and they will credit my account...glad mine didn't work!

So registering for a beta gets you a version to always use or a trial one that expires? I have been using shapewriter and so far I like it. So I don't know if Swype is much better should I sign up for the beta? Anyone here used both and prefer one over the other? I hear so much about Swype and then me and my friend tried shape writer and we have been happy with it.

Another funny story.
Yesterday, I'm in my weekly team status meeting. One of my coworkers was getting off on a tangent, and my manager cuts him off, saying to can the inane chatter so he can slam through the meeting agenda and get back to watching the World Cup. He, and most of my team, areApple/iPhone fanbois too.
While he's babbling about his next topic (I'm sitting next to him), I quietly pull out my Evo, pop on WiMAX, pull up Sprint TV and the World Cup. When he stops next, I slid the phone in front of him and said something about not having to rush anymore. Got a bunch of laughs from the rest of the team, and throughout the rest of the meeting, I saw him glancing at my phone every now and then.
Afterward, he was actually several other coworkers about "the kick-ass phone that [Bek] has... " and how the TV "wasn't dropping any frames or anything... it was smooth!"
Win 1 for the Evo!

Ok so I decided to try Swype. My friend tried it 1st and I was already used to Shapewriter and I wasn't sure I wanted to try something new but I did. I like it alot. It's kind of the same a little different but is this beta just something we will onyl have for a short time will it expire? I was showing it to a co worker yesterday and she said oh my Motorla Cliq came with Swype already. But I like it.

Dunno... I would imagine it's an open ended trial / beta. I have owned a Android device (i.e. Hero now EVO) and have always managed a version of Swype... I could never text another way, shape writer was definitely a good substitute, but one definite difference was I found shape writer needed me to be a lot more precise than Swype... anyone else agree?!?!
Not to mention, the keyboard and tutorial is an excellent touch to the app.

I really liked shapewriter but then it started tripping out, I wasn't able to get swype to work. I am going to wait till swype until it comes out of beta

I got swype to work and now i am used to it and like it. It is different from shapewriter and my friend said he is going back to shape writer. I can make words come out better on swype. But on shapewriter you could like type lol and have it with one touch change to Lol or LOL and my friend liked that. But I am used to swype now when I do get it right and it's highlighted you just hit the space bar. Like the regular keyboard that came with the phone once it predicted the word you it the space bar. But I think shape writer auto spaced after periods and swype doesn't but I am going to give swype another couple days and probably stick with it. But shape writer was still good.
Pictures in gallery don't focus to their maximum clearness So with my awesome 8 mega pixel camera I like to take some pictures, and then show them off (obviously using the gallery). But I noticed they turn out good, but if you zoom in a little, like pinch to zoom, then zoom out to the normal size (when the picture originally appears) it gets crisper and soooo much clearer. It's unbelievable. Try it, You'll see what I'm talking about. It's only with pictures the phone takes.
I have tried pulling up a picture and waiting for it to auto focus (like it would load or something), but nothing happens...No matter what I do or how long I wait....
So does anyone know why this is? I have to pinch and zoom in, then zoom out to the normal size to get the best quality of the photo when viewing it in the gallery and this is getting old.. Anyone have a solution to this?! Thanks again!
