The Huawei Ascend VIP Lounge !!!

Ok, I went to the link provided in the "step by step" thread that was created and tried to download the z4root.1.3.0.apk. and its says, "Cannot download. The content is not supported on this phone". :(

I know you've already got yours figured out, but I am going to post this just in case anybody finds use of it.

I said that I would follow instructions when I rooted mine, but I still ended up doing it differently. What I did was download the z4root file to my desktop of my home PC. I put it in a folder called z4root.

I then connected my phone to the PC and transfered the folder with root file inside to my SD card.

From there, I went into my File Manager and opened the folder, installed root, and went from there. Worked like a charm.

I had a hard enough time getting past the nervousness of rooting. ;):p

I procrastinated and was just as nervous. I got passed that by jumping in head first. It was easier than I thought it would be. I have enough confidence built up for Icarus now, just gotta find the time.

Yeah, rooting wasn't the problem for me, I'm just scared to death of ICARUS :)

It's easy, Crumb. Once you do it you will wonder what took you so long. :) It's very worth it too. Dramatically improves the Ascend's performance.

as i said, you cant brick it

If I haven't bricked it yet no one can! hahaha!!!

Have you done it yet, rock?

Just waiting for the time to do it. My current schedule takes up alot of my free time. Friday morning is looking pretty good for me as of right now, possibly even Thursday night.

Just curious, not that I would rush through it or anything, but how long does it take on average to complete the process and be back up and running? 30mins? And hour?

In regards to Icarus what is the difficulty level of installing it on the scale of 1 to 10?

I am thinking about it now that I'm rooted but am a bit nervous about it. :o

Sorry la sal and UOFL, I abandoned ship. I couldn't resist trying the Icarus Mod. It was just too tempting for me, even with the recent problems others were having.

The install went real smooth. It's very simple to do, just read the instructions twice before you start to get a good understanding, then follow them exactly as they say.

It took me about an hour, but I also wasn't trying to hurry as I didn't want to miss a step. Once it was complete, I tested it and got everything set back the way I had it. Everything works great, runs smooth, and is just very nice to look at compared to the stock ROM.

Oh, and can't forget a2sd either.

I was going to install it this weekend but have since changed my mind with all the issues members have been having lately.

I'm with la sal on this one.

The next week should be interesting to see how smoothly your phone runs.

I'm going to have to make a list of all my apps if I decide to give Icarus a try next weekend.

Someone else showed me that you can visit the market from your PC and see a list of all of your apps that you've got downloaded. Then click to install them from there, and they automatically install on your phone. That's how I reinstalled mine and it was alot faster than searching the market by phone.

Thanks. That will save me a lot of time writing and then searching for them in the market.

All information inside of them would be erased I assume (Titanium Backup for example).
