The "I just got my Nexus 7!" thread

Mine was on the porch waiting when I got home! Woo Hoo!

I got it set up and my credit went through straight away.

Now my only hope is that Unforgiven gets theirs really soon, because they have been really cool to everyone who's been getting theirs while they are still waiting.

UNFORGIVEN I HOPE YOU ARE NEXT TO GET YOURS!

Awesome buddy:party:

How are some people getting them from stores lol? I cant find a single retail here with one so i ordered it Tues and tracking says I get tomorrow

Got my nexus today from Google Store... Took only 3 days to ship... I asked questions about warranty and or a phone number to call for tech support but got no answers yet. I am sure they are flooded with work... Anyone here know about Asus warranty? phone to call?

Need a swype app, downloaded Nuance Swype beta but I don't see it on keyboard... whaa whaa...

Thanks...

If you have the swype beta, then you need to enable it first. After that you will see a keyboard icon in the status bar when you are typing and you wwill be able to choose swype from there. If you want a long term swype solution you could try Flex T9 as it as nearly identicle to swype and produceed by the same company.

Just got my N7 today and, WOW!!! Amazing interface, love the widgets, love the silky smooth UI. For my first android device ever (coming from Apple), I can't believe it took me this long to get an android device.

Congrats bud, I'm happy for you.

Hi from Australia.
Just received my Nexus7.... And upon unboxing has a dirty big crack across the screen :(
On hold for 30mins now with Google support to confirm what I need to do about an RMA.

Well. I'm new to android and therefore new to here.

Just thought I'd share my experiences for what its worth (and practice typing on here!)

I came from having iPhone 4s and iPad 1. I still love my 4s and not a lot will change about that but I realised I hadn't even picked up my original iPad in 6 months almost!! And so I heard about this and thought I'd give it a go. I hate the bulkiness and heaviness of iPad

Well I'm staggered. I love android so far. I love the functionality and being able to set things up the way that works for you. I love love the portability of this thing also. I'm a girl and it fits in my handbag!!!!!

There are people who are saying its no competition to the iPad. However I'd disagree, I certainly think its competition to the original. Much faster and less laggy. I simply couldn't afford anything else either so I think it has such a wide appeal.

I've had no problem sharing my data between devices with the aid of Google etc. Luckily I've always used Google for my docs/email etc so that really makes life a lot easier I think. I have my bookmarks from my phone, my laptop and my iPad all in one place.

The voice thing blows siri out the window for accuracy and doing things. I like siri humour but very limited here in the UK.

My only negative so far is apps. As I said I'm a girl and I like my aesthetically pleasing apps etc. The important ones are OK but iOS wins hand own on the level and prettyness of apps hands down.

Ive spent the last two days straight on this thing and I'm in love. Most of all its the size and its so comfortable to hold to read etc.

To sum up : I've sold my iPad!!!

I'm looking for tips and tricks now.

Also can someone tell me what all this rooting nonsense is?? Is it like jail breaking ?? Sorry for being dense but so used to iOS for the last 4 years.

Byeeeee

Welcome to the forums SuziBrad. :ciao:

Check the sticky for Tips & Tricks.

I've never owned an Apple product but yes, I think rooting is like jailbreakiing. It just gives you more options and more control over what you can do with your android device.

Rooting is exactly like jailbreaking. I've owned a number of Apple products as well - just like jailbreaking, it simply provides root level (administrative level) access to the system.

Unlike jailbreaking, though, Android has less restrictions on what a root-level user can do with the OS, so you have even more flexibility than a jailbroken device. Plus, Android allows root apps in the regular Google Play store, so they're more widely available.

Several Staples stores started selling them yesterday. Had two 16GB left this morning, managed to get one.

Not new to Android by any means but this is the first tablet I've ever purchased. I guess I have the issue with the glass but it's so incredibly minor I honestly wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't read about it online. Need to find a decent case for it now that isn't insanely expensive.

I'm running home in a few minutes to get mine. Stoooopid UPS guy left it on the front porch and it is going to rain.

I just got mine, but it won't connect to my family's wireless network. I'm not sure what the problem is. It just says "authentication problem"

Maybe you have MAC address filtering turned on and forgot about it? Took me a while to remember I had done that.

My dad set up the network so I don't know. But I don't think there is filtering because I connected my phone and laptop without having to submit the mac addresses

Yaaayyy!!! That you got it, not that it's going to rain.

:S hurry up!. Anyways, I'm glad you are finally getting your N7!
Yeah, saved from the rain. Unboxed both with no issues, quick check for any lifting of the screen came back fine. Plugged them in and activated. They should be charged and ready to go when I leave work.

Congrats on getting yours. I hope you figure the Wifi so you can play with it.
