The Intercept 2.2 Froyo update thread

My girlfriend is furious about the update. She had a long list of the login names (though not the passwords) for her accounts on different web sites. She kept it on her phone in a Memo created with MemoPad, so that she'd always have them with her no matter where she was. She wasn't aware that the update would delete the MemoPad application and all the Memos that she'd created. (And when she called customer support at Virgin Mobile, no one knew what to do. They transferred her to four different people, and eventually just offered her a $10 credit.)

Seriously? You are blaming the update and Virgin mobile for your Girlfriend not being smart enough to;

1. Back up her phone
or
2. Keep her usernames/passwords elsewhere

In the case you described, it's all on her. Be smarter than the phone.

Would she blame Virgin Mobile if she lost her phone with all of those items on there?

I just recently (about 3 days ago) updated from 2.1 to 2.2 on my intercept for virgin mobile. Everything seemed to be okay, but now I no longer have sound which means I can't hear calls and so forth. The thing that gets me is the fact I can't hear anything when I play I.e. music, notifications, yet when I set an alarm the sound works. I've already reset the phone and have done everything I can think of.
My only phone, no computer.
In other words, I'm screwed till Monday. ( if the rep. Can even help me)
Any suggestions or help?

Hi, after I did the update about 3 or 4 days ago my phone won't keep my wall paper. I tried to put up a picture for my wall paper and it acted really weird. About a 1/2 hour after my phone was on (after the new update) the phone automatically turned itself off then turned itself back on with the wall paper I wanted. This happened for the past 3 days since the new update and now today I've had the phone on for about 2 hours and I don't have my wall paper that I want and it won't put it up? Anyone got any ideas why? The other thing I noticed is when I'm typing a text and a new text comes in it will switch me over to the new text that came in and save the text I was typing as a draft....really annoying and weird. I did take the battery out thinking this would help with the wall paper problem but it didn't. Any help would be great. Genevive

I did the manual update a week ago took about 10 minutes and admit that the phone worked kind of screwy at first until I finally did a factory reset, a network reset and reinstalled my apps and moved the all movable ones to my sd. Now my phone runs a whole lot faster. And may I suggest getting a faster class 4 sd card instead of using the class 2 that came with the phone.

I dislike that the dragdown toolbar no longer has quick enable/disable for Wi-Fi. What are you guys using as an alternative (short of going the long way through settings)?

Not exactly the same. This would be more like Virgin Mobile stealing her phone than her carelessly losing it. This appears to be an intentional act on the provider, not one of negligence on the part of the user. Even though they removed the application, there's no reason the data can' be saved in a file in the "my files" folder.

Still a no-go with my update. Tried 6-7 times and have given up, i'm gonna have to stick with 2.1...

Received the 2.2 update and phone has behaved much better. But now when I attempt to add a New Contact a little message comes up and says, "Sorry I can't (can't read the rest). I can't add any numbers to the phone.
Anyone know what's going on?
