The (maybe) "Epic" Motorola X Pre-Release Thread

I don't know if I can wait that long?!

My Gnex is doing just fine. Having fun with new ROMs keeps it fresh. It's not like my OG Droid, where at this point in its life, GB ROMs were bogging it down so bad. :(
I'm still just really on the fence about whether I want to stick with Verizon. Crossing fingers that Moto can get their stuff together and put a decent camera in this phone though!

If anything, it was passed off for Moto to finish as Google and Moto finished whatever collaboration Google deemed necessary for the project.

The original source of that barely sounds like a bump of last year's Maxx (0.1" larger screen of same resolution, S3-like benchmark performance). A RAM upgrade and a software update doesn't sound worth releasing a new handset for.

Hopefully that's wrong, because surely nobody would release a flagship that's that far behind the curve.

With all the apps I have on my Nexus, 1 GB RAM is barely sufficient. I should much prefer 2 GB. If it has a 4.7" - 5" HD screen and a decent processor, I'll likely buy it this fall. All I know is that despite all the customizations and modifications I've made to her, she's getting a little long in the tooth and is just about ready for a well-deserved semi-retirement.

If we absolutely HAVE to stretch it out a little longer to get the right phone, we will... but we all know there will never be an "ultimate" phone. Waiting for the next big thing means waiting forever.

Oh yeah, agreed. Just that if the bit about benchmarks was accurate that would imply last year's cpu, and that would be a compromise too far for me.

Other thing is that keeping same screen resolution but making it larger is a negative to me.

But let's see what turns out to be real.

Curved back? Hmm, interesting. I find the shape of HTC One much more comfortable to hold than the Samsung S4, so for a larger phone a curved back is a positive in my mind.

The newest article(rumor) is saying this won't be a "high end" phone. Basically saying it will be a step down from an S4 or Htc One.

Sorry, don't buy that one bit.

I don't either. Google seems focused on making Motorola profitable and relevant. They MUST follow Samsung and target customers of all large carriers and major MVNO's. Catering to Verizon isn't getting them anywhere.

I know that many already suspected the elusive X-phone was not going to be ready at Google IO, but I was hopeful that it wasn't true.

Anyway, it seems a bunch of editors don't think the X-phone would be exhibited either

agh, I can't wait too much longer... Literally... My Atrix 4gk is breaking down at a steady rate :p (primary issues include digitizer fritz, freeze, unresponsive keyboard, unresponsive call button)

Yeah, I think this phone is staying in Motorola's bag, so Google I/O is not the right place for it.
