The Official "Can someone please get us an Update.zip" Thread.

how could you have 2.2 if you followed those instructions... did u do the 2.2 RUU?

i found the rom.zip file and renamed it...placed in the root of sd, powered down to hboot and it started updating. i rebooted and boom, i have 2.2

weirdest thing i guess...

i have

baseband 2.15.00.07.28

software # 3.21.605.1

am i good to go?

lol you guys kill me. YES it is updated from 2.1. but in case you haven't heard of people updating things like ya know, the TWO leaks of the official 2.2 we had before the third was a charm. YA the gmail got updated again. do some searching. and stop hating one everyone for not doing what you do. Just because you do the RUU who cares, other people can do what they want.

For some reason you seem to believe that the ota version is different from the ruu version. it has been confirmed that the files are the same so i am not sure how this is possible.

so what are the differences? please be specific so we can determine if you are right.

i would just like to say THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!!!! i am a very impatient person... and the update.zip just made my day :D:D:D:D

Updated with ZERO issues.

Download this file:

UPDATE FILE

Rename to update.zip

Move to the root directory of your sd card
Note: if you use ASTRO, the directory will be named:
/sdcard

Reboot in to HBoot by powering off your phone then powering back up while pressing and holding volume down+power at the same time.

Select "Recovery" by pressing the power button

Once in Recovery press and hold Volume up + Power button

Navigate to "Apply update.zip from SD card" and select it by pressing the power button...it should take a few minutes to load.

Once install is complete, select "Reboot"

Once the phone is rebooted, and starts back up, you will see the new "Droid" launch screen.
Note: this may pause for up to 30-60 seconds and then continue. If it freezes, do a batery pull and power back up. It will pause again and then should go through just fine!

I encourage you to do a battery pull at least 2 times today. The first, being directly after you install and have a successful boot up/run and another at the end of the day. This will clear the system cache and speed things up.

Good luck,
