Root The road to Android ICS 4.0 on the Triumph

The guys over at the XDA Ideos X6 Android Development forum managed to get rid of the software keys on their rom. Any way to use it on ours?

Its a flashable .zip... I can try it and see if it will work on mantera's port.

EDIT: The flashable didn't do anything for me :/

Edit: Also another thing... How hard would it be to port an ICS rom from another phone that has similar specs like the thunderbolt?

You guys should be working from source code (even if you don't know how to code), it'll make everything easier in the long-term. (The hard part now is getting it to compile without Isaac's help). Mantera was able to do it, so it's possible (merge Isaac + CM + edowar's repos).

Linux supports multiple users logged in remotely. If someone has access to a machine that is fast enough w/ enough RAM (4+ GB), it can support multiple people building on it. And really most of the time it'll be idle because everyone will be stuck at some point trying to get past some issue.

I guess I can try... I would ideally like to use vmware although the thing about that is even though I have a 64-bit processor and OS vmware says something about me not having a 64-bit... Anyone know why that would be?

I have a six core system I just need help with the build environment. I had isaacs working untill he had me trying to get genlock working and foobarred everything.

Some intel processors need a BIOS setting changed. Google the error message.

Actually I think it was because I have a pentium and it doesn't like or something... I really need to get a C2D... Anyways I'm trying Ubuntu's window installer thing... If worst comes to worst I can always set up dual boot or just boot from a flashdrive or cd...

Couple things:

I would like to dim or diminish the hardware keys and only have the software keys. I think it would add the whole ICS thing.

2nd, I have a dual-core AMD Athlon 64-bit lappy with 8Gb Ram, but I know NOTHING about adding Isaacs n whatever..
But, I am more than happy n willing to help!
If there's a quick guide (yea rite) to learning this, lemme know!

Thanks peeps!

Hmmm mine didn't have the offset... But it didn't boot :/ and just replacing the kernel just for some reason makes it a pointer device not like an actual touchscreen, but I'm trying something now I'll let you know how that works out...

Mine had the offset also

Here I would try it myself, but I'm trying to get ICS installed on my G1... Its hell of a lot harder than on the MT...

There has been an ICS build for the G1 for quite some time now. The original build was forced to be limited by hardware limitations, but I think if it's been updated, you should be able to find several working ones around the net.

I have a Toshiba with 1.30 ghz dual core proccesors and 4 gigs of ram,I don't think it'll be good enough for developing although I've already installed Ubuntu on it

I know i have a build, the thing about it is its not as easy as just installing it hrough CWM there's more to it... And every time I try it doesn't get past the boot screen. I have Gingerbread on it right now and it runs really nice. Anyways thats totally off topic...

So would my laptop running a dual core pentium T4200 @2.00 GHZ (upgraded from a celeron single core @2.2 GHZ so its better) and 2 GB of DDR2 ram be able to build?

This may also be a stupid question but do you NEED to have a boot or splash screen for a ROM this to boot up? Just wondering since I just get stuck at the Google splash screen..... Maybe that could be the problem. Doubt it though lol I'm not a Dev. And I guess the random offset 0xc7 is normal as I looked it up and it was just the way the flashing ends...didn't seem to actually affect anything

You haven't noticed that before? I see it every time I come to the forums at the bottom of the page...:p Plus it is an ebay ad thing so...

Yeah I pretty much use my phone to post on the forum and o use my PC to play games on my HDTV. Im playing skyrim.

You can skip the boot screen and keep the splash screen. You really don't need the boot screen as I have heard.
