Years ago, I heard a conversation from 2 phone operators - one from the deep south and the other from Brooklyn. Neither one could understand the other.

And what do the voice services do with colloquialisms? Pop, soda, Coke? Bag, Sack, Poke?

I have relatives who stayed oop North while I moved away as a kid. On the rare occassions I see them, I often find myself asking them to "repeat that in English" ..

Coincidentally, maybe, I had a Danish friend years ago who swore that when she first visited the North East she could understand everyone no problem, despite barely speaking a word of English.

I know the terms. How in hell does Siri know which part of country uses what colloquialism?

New England differentiates between Mary, Merry, and Marry. How can AI tell when the rest of the country can't or doesn't.

My kid, who used to watch "All in the Family" heard the real thing a couple of years ago on a bus trip where we went through NY and asked me if the people were speaking English! Does AI speak Brooklyn or Queens? My aunt did change oi and er. You flushed the terlet. How about BAAHSTON?

I've heard "Let's go for a dope" meaning Coca-Cola. And what if someone like Stinky buys an American phone? He's got his own slang.

In answer to the OP (cheers Barry mate), funkylogik was using android way before siri but siri is just another reason for funkylogik to HATE the apple monster :-D

(Dont ask me about my experiences with GNow lol) :beer::beer:
 
Ps, i just watched the vid in the OP, there are a lot of similar vids with scotsmen playin with siri but i gotta be honest, the person in the OP vid speaks POSH... he uses that ewan mcgreggor accent that even americans CAN understand lol!! even northern englishmen cant understand my banter unless i slow down by half and prOnOUncE everything to them lol. Siri has no chance :)
