Root [Theme] Black, White, Chrome for Leaked Gingerbread 2.3.3

Stephen, who would have thought you would EVER ask that?

I know, right? ;)

You have to deodex before applying any theme ;)

Not if it's already deodexed... of late all themes and roms came so.. so I can see where it might confuse some folks.

Son of a bitch. Time to figure out how to deodex.

Not necessary bro.. all you need to do is flash the pre-deodexed newest gb rom over the gb. PM me if you need help. k?

That's true, but I wouldn't want to have to reinstall GB just to deodex, the deodex zip would be quicker ;)

I installed GB before it was pre-deodexed and used the deodex zip I made to deodex :D

Either way should work.

Hey, I have a few questions for you please. I went from 2.3.340, stock, rooted, then flashed dxgbrooted, all is well, then i read some people then flashed deodexed.
what is that? where do i get that? do i want that and if so, why?

I like the way this theme looks, but it says "for liberty" or "apex", I'm not sure what those are or if I need them to use this theme. how do you install the theme?

Thanks from a noob!

Edit - so I have to install a ROM first, such as bouch, like rubix?

Here you go! Droid x (2.3.3) Gingerbread - Deodexed and Rooted

You have to flash this first, then you flash whatever you want to over it. Keep asking questions! :) Only start a fresh thread for your questions so we can more readily see them and keep this thread clearer so we can use it for off topic banter relating to BWC :p

Ok, I just started a new one and hopefully will get some insight, newbie primer info, lots of info/stuff to wade thru, wow

Steven58 - it's here if you'd be so kind as to share your obviously vast and extensive knowledge: http://androidforums.com/droid-x-al...w-gb-deodex-roms-themes-help.html#post2516235

just loaded the theme and damn is it nice!!!! Great work! For all those out there hesitant about flashing this, just read through the thread and follow all the instructions and tips! I am not a genius like some of these peeps but if you take your time it isn't that hard.

Where do i find the deodex zip you made? I installed dxgbrooted, now want to deodex

So to flash that deox file i need to mount? what's that and how do i do that?

Then after I flash that, i can do the BWC theme, if I don't like that theme, ho wo do i get back to the deodexed non-themed version?

Do you use root explorer or a rom manager or both?

When you are in bootstrap go into "mounts and storage" and mount the system (it will say "unmount" when it is mounted), then flash the deodex zip.

After your phone boots up, go back into bootstrap and flash the BWC theme.

If you want to remove the theme, then just flash the deodex file again.

Ok, thanks, at what point do i unmount, or do i?

I'm currently on the rooted non-deox version, is the deox version and bwc compatible with launcherpro,? It worked fine after installing the rooted nondeox version. do i have to uninstall it before applying deox or bwc or both or neither?

You don't need to unmount anything.

1. Simply go into bootstrap and mount the system.

2. Install the deodex zip file.

3. Reboot.

4. Go back into bootstrap and mount system if you want to; you don't have to because the update script does it for you, but I always do it anyway because it's so easy to do.

5. Install BWC theme.

6. Reboot and done.

LPP is not dependent on deodexing, it will work either way; it's not a system apk, it's an addon apk.

Way too much info floating around out there!! I just read that you have to be on the non-rooted GB leak to install the deox version, but that's just one post, all others say rooted, your thoughts please?

You have to be rooted to install the D2 bootsrapper (which is necessary to install themes and ROMs). I was under the impression that you were already rooted and had the D2 bootstrapper installed. Are you not rooted?

sorry to be a noob i just rooted my droid and dont understand nothing about installing roms can anyone show a guide on how to install this? and what happens to my phone when i install roms?

Sorry if this was asked thousands of times im just not good at this type of things

I'm running non-deox version, i think, anyway to tell?

If you flashed the dxgbrooted.zip then you are definitely not deodexed.

You can go into /system/app with root explorer, and if you see two files with the same name, one with .apk and the other with .odex extension, such as:

SystemUI.apk
SystemUI.odex

then you are definitely not deodexed.

Ok so 1st post on these forums....there are so many Android/DX forums that it is hard to tell which is best...

So here is my quick story...

I was running 2.3.32....SBF to 2.3.34....Upgraded using Maderstock...that worked sorta, until I got to 2.3.3 (gingerbread). Then I SBF'd to 2.3.3...awesome, completely worked...added deodexing with the file on the other sites...completely worked.

This is the first theme I that I have ever used with any ROM or stock ROM. I installed the BWC with no issues using D2 Bootstrap and no wiping of data/cache, since I figured that wasn't needed. I love the theme, using the custom LauncherPro too.

PROBLEM: When I turn off the phone, then turn it back on, I get the ClockworkMod recovery screen. Is this normal? When I hit reboot system now, the phone launches regularly and I am off to smooth sailing. But is there any way to get rid of the ClockworkMod screen?

A big thanks to the OP for this theme!
