Root To Root or Not To Root...?

Hmmm, think I'll keep the penguins for now, will delve into that at another time, would like to do the recovery and wipe for now and then I'll go for the fancy stuff...;)
 
ok to go into recovery there are 2 options, first is the easy way, go to the app market and search for

anreboot

download that and install it then you just simply hit the button (by button I mean the icon for anreboot) then you chose to reboot recovery. the new one has 4 options reboot- reboot recovery- reboot bootloader, which does nothing on this phone by the way, and power off.

That is my preferred way but sometimes you need to do it manually, then you just power off your phone and then when it is off press and hold the side button for the camera then press the volume up button then while holding both of those press the power button and hold until the samsung logo comes up then let go all 3

you will get to a menu that says reboot phone
as well as some other options. use the volume buttons to scroll down and up, and the camera button to select.

I clicked on it and it said it was going to the phone, but I don't see it anywhere...doesn't show up on the top bar as d/ling...was I supposed to put the SD card back in??

at this time you can put the sd card back in.

as to the anreboot however if you clicked it and it said installing open the app drawer and look for anreboot in there. should be a big green button icon
 
No big green button...hmmm...let me d/l it again...didn't have my settings button on the home screen so had to find that and then the apps slide to the left and right and not up and down so that caused a delay...lol. New things to get used to...
 
Would it go somwhere else besides with the other apps cause I don't see it anywhere....? Yea, I guess I'll have to do it manually....

no they dont go any where else.
they do seem to have you click twice for downloading, once to start and again to ok it? dont know exactly why:confused:
 
Yeah and I did that 3 times, but still no go....technology...lol.

Tried it again, still nothing...doesn't show up at the top bar...ahh well, at least it can be done manually.
 
ya, strange have to look at that. also shabbymod .9 comes with a file explorer you can look in all the folders and make a few changes that way as well. specifically the sound when the phone boots up

Uh ohhh, here's the man himself...lol. No, the penguins are okay, but the chimes will go when I figure it out, with some help of course...lol. Don't know what's going on with the app, but can't find it anywhere...

oh, lol ok well turn off the phone
when its off press the camera button on the right side bottom as the screen faces you. hold that button then press and hold the volume up button on the top left side then press an hold the power button until the samsung logo comes up. then let go all 3
 
ok perfect use the volume down button to scroll down to the wipe data option, i forget what its called, I know there is wipe cache you can do that one as well. use the camera button to make the selection when the option you want is highlighted.
 
Wipe data/factory reset...

I keep my SD card in while doing this, right? If so, am I to assume all apps will be lost by doing the factory reset? Boohoo if that's the case...:(

Okay, it's coming back on...I did the factory reset and cache...

OMG ugly Boost home screen.....lol

yes you can keep the sd card in, nothing on the sd card will be affected.
and I know it sucks you will have to redo all the settings as well as redownload the apps but as mentioned in the long run it will clear things up to work with the shabby mod better.
