Enjoy the new phone.

How do you feel about the speaker quality, the UI, battery life, the overall performance?
I assume it runs on stock Froyo, but hopefully more GB roms will be available.
The rumor is that there is a Tegra 2 version of SGS2, but it will be available only on selected countries.
overall very very good, specifially i'll have to use it longer to let you know, but first impressions are very good.
Its froyo, gingerbread coming very soon (think modaco has one already)
This phone has some interesting looking specs but Ive had a rough time with LG phones in the past so Im kinda steering away from this one. It sounds too good to be true!
Nah, phone is great, everyone has bad experiences with every company, so don't hold a grudge
European Law is meant to rule out these mortgage type contracts in May so I will wait till then to even think of getting a new phone. So from May we can now get 12 month contracts for a decent price so I will probably opt for the Desire S if Orange or Tesco gets it, but hope you enjoy your new phone
I really don't think decent price and 12 month contract will go together. Have you not seen the difference between 24 and 18 month? The difference between 12 and 24 will be huge.
have fun with your new phone Lekky.
I'm also thinking about upgrading from my Desire.
I can't choose between LG Optimus 2X or the SGS2
I've had some bad things with LG in the past but Samsung is quite good on build quality etc.
The only thing I don't like on the SGS2 like you mentioned is that it hasn't got a TEGRA 2 processor. Although I hope they will make one ^^
Time is against me so I need te upgrade fast! (My Desire has some hardware problems lately (random bootloops every day)).
My original plan was to go sim free and buy the galaxy s2. This deal (as in the total cost cheaper than phone) was too good to pass up. I may yet still buy the galaxy s2 as i would like a 4.3" screen, but regardless this phone is fantastic!
Does LG put their own crappy software on the 2X?
I want my next phone to either be vanilla Android or have a decent ROM community backing by the time I get it.
Slightly. Its very light. Also you can use all the Lg widgets on a different launcher like launcher pro which is great. LG even pack in a "home switcher" app by default, so it seems they realise forcing massive custom skin isnt what people want.
Hold off if you can.
Nvidia posted in their blog that their "Kal-El" quad core processor is likely going to be shipping in phones as soon as August.
Phones with this SoC will be the next generation of "superphones"
Don't use that as an excuse to hold off, unless you want to hold off until next year... Any quad core cpu won't be in a phone thats actually available on the market this year..
I've read about that, but in the coming 2-4 months I'm interested to see HTC Pyramid and SGS2 (with Tegra 2) in action - public acceptance, sales, performance, bugs, processing power, rooting and developer acceptance.
HTC phones are out of the question as they dont have tegra2 for me anyway. HTC are also locking their phones so thats not great... The LG is not locked at all, easy root, so devs should be jumping on this (as they seem to be).
You sound pretty happy. I look forward to a play and hearing about it. My partner is up for renewal in 3-4 weeks, so i'm hoping the pyramid is out then. I'll get that and she can get the Desire

Or failing it, she'll just get the Desire S and i'll get something the end of the year.
The LG trumps the Desire S in every way... probably including price (which is crazy considering how much of a better phone the LG is..) Depends if you like playnig games, because the first thing i did was get the Tegra2 game Samurai2, and its bleedin amazing!
Have upgraded from my Desire and got myself a Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc. So far I am very impressed with it....lovely screen, very fast, enjoying gingerbread, beautiful design and form factor and a very responsive screen.
Have still kept my Desire, as it was my first touchscreen/Android phone, plus I would still use it as a back up phone.
The Arc is beautiful, really a beautiful phone, if it had dual core I may be holding that right now, as it is single core don't cut it. But yeah, gorgeous phone.
