Root Trouble Unrooting

I actually have MikG's installed now. I just need a ROM that when I sell the phone without digging real deep that someone won't know it's been rooted. I don't think I have to worry about Sprint Tech Support since the phone is long out of warranty. Someone at XDA mentioned Captain Throwback's ROM.

Pick the version that says "More" stock and it'll be even closer to stock than my "Throwback-style" version.

Going to try wiping again and clearing the Dalvik cache. I saw some other odd stuff like my background still being there and some Mik apps still there.
I would have to ask the same question as ocn, what did you wipe?
You need to wipe all EXCEPT SD CARD, like, 3 times (that's what I do), then flash rom.

Personally, I would "talk that up" as a selling point for the phone.
It's the best thing you can do to a phone imho.
:)

Only if a person is interested in having control over their phone. Have you not seen some of the new threads here with individuals buying a rooted phone? In the end, rooted is the only way to go but try explaining all the ins and outs of flashing, wiping, kernels, TB, overclock, underclock, undervolt, partition, ext3 to ext4.........need I say more, it's confusing enough and looking at this stuff for the first time can be extremely overwhelming

A valid point and I can understand that... If I were looking for an Evo 4g, and knew nothing about rooting, I suppose that would be a turn off if I saw the phone was rooted. On the flip side though, if I was looking for an Evo 4g already rooted b/c I didn't want to go thru the "hassle" of rooting it, I would be "turned on" by the fact it is rooted.
;)

I would not want to buy a rooted phone, I would rather someone learn and read about the process of rooting and flashing. ocnbrze has got one of the best guides around and if someone can't get their phone rooted then they should probably stock and unrooted:rolleyes:

Agreed, he has done a fantastic, clear guide on rooting.
And also, I agree with the fact people should root their own phones....it gives them an understanding of the root process and how to troubleshoot if/when needed....besides, it's fun:D
