Two questions about TapFish

If there is a food brick that lasts until the power comes back on, they will be fine.

And they *should* be fine for two days after that.

So, if you put a medium food brick in, you should be good for seven days.

(You could post from your phone to here if the power is out, and we can watch them if it is more than that.)

Stay safe!

Mindbenda, haha I knew it! Btw, you mentioned something before about using gingerbreak to root for Tapfish. I think I'm going to use that for my phone. You think it's a good idea for me? I have a plain old Motorola Droid. Tapfish is now up to like 60+ mb on my phone... It's become a monster, and I need more space! I'm terrified using a random app will somehow compromise my phone to hackers or something bad will happen... Any help would, well.. help. Thanks again.

For the moto Droid, Z4Root or gingerbreak works. But, I'm not the person to ask about the storage issue. All I can tell you is to get Link2SD after rooting, and that you'll have to partition your SD card for that to work. Now with that being said I'm 1-1 when it comes to partition SD cards in that I fried one and got one to work might want to check the forums for a better info source. Look through "Android Phones" on here, find your phone and ask there. You'll get spot on info there.

Mindabenda84, I've never really messed with any of the files. All I did was formatted my phone and installed tapfish back again. Not rooted either. Can't root my phone now cause the bootloader is locked when I formatted it.

Ok, so here's what you have to do from my understanding.

First update tapfish to it's most recent version.

Do whatever it is you want to do to your tanks.

The rest is getting a higher level in your current game than your abandoned one. Their servers update you highest level. So if you surpass the abandoned data's level your new tanks will be updated on the server.

Mindbenda, that post you made about having tanks for people tp feed and tend for points with just one green snapper in it made me giggle, but I can't copy and paste the quote on the iPad.

But thanks for making me laugh--I needed it when you posted it =)

Obee, I can link you to a Link2sd tutorial--Or just search for a post by MacFett and go to the link in his sig.

I've got a question for you guys.

This seems like a pretty addictive game, albeit repetitive. If I have no plan to buy FishBucks, should I start playing this game? I'm feeling I need a new game to play on my phone.

It is addictive and it's slow if you don't buy any fishbucks. However there is no harm in trying it! There are a lot of fish you can buy with coins and you can earn bucks by downloading apps, but it requires patience.

On another note, I am upset with myself because I just wasted 18 bucks on a background I had no intention of buying. I was just trying to switch to a background I already had but hit the buy button on the one next to it by mistake! aarrhh!

I was in your boat when I first started playing and promised myself I wouldn't buy any fish bucks. This was when the game first came out. At the time, I didn't have any money in the bank to spend freely on entertainment so it wasn't hard to not spend real bucks anyway. But as the game progresses, it gets more boring, strategies and all (unless you like tapping on 50 individual fish in x amount of tanks to earn coins each day). It got boring for me in a couple of weeks.

What made me decide to spend the real bucks is 1) I don't play any other Android games (or one that costs money), 2) I get satisfaction out of discovering new breeds, 3) the friends aka "neighbors" I've made playing together, and 4) I like fish. I've only spent about $30 so far. I only buy if I really really like the fish and it will get me something more in the game in the future.

Ugh! Yeah, I made the mistake of pressing "Speed Up" instead of "Sell" and lost fishbucks... Evil developers and their evil placement of buttons.

Yeah, that speed up button is truly evil and ridiculously expensive for what it does. Why would one spend money on speeding up just one fish anyway?

I warned you guys about that speed up button XD

But placement aside it asks you if you're sure. And considering what you're selling, even if you do pay attention to the face that fish bucks is used instead of coins, but a double digit number in any sell tank should be a red flag.

But, Mindbenda, I was multitasking and (obviously) not paying attention to the popups! Mostly because they constantly popup at random times in the game (frustrating) with "Force close/Wait/Report" or "You may experience slow gaming blah blah because of low memory." And I'm not talking about once an hour, it's like every couple minutes.

I just used Gingerbreak and think it was successful, so am going to use Link2sd now to hopefully give me some more room to play around with! I feel like Tapfish is becoming a smothering boyfriend..

Obee, when you are using Link2sd, do a few apps at a time, then reboot and do some more. (I think that is in the tutorial, but I don't really remember.)

And make sure that you move the apps you may have moved withh Appd2sd back to the phome and link them, too.

When I did it forst, none of my apps seemed to have and Lib files, so occaisonally gonin and check and link those, too--you'll get even more space.

Oh--and when you get done, download Root Explorer and click data-->tombstones and click eash tombstone file and then delete it. If the game has crashed a lot for you, you will probably have a bunch of them.

Has anyone else gotten the "Sorry! The application Tapfish (process com.bayview.tapfish) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again. Force close or Report?" pop-up when not playing all throughout the day, since the most recent update? I try to kill it, but it keeps coming back. I hope it isn't still running in the background.

I'm trying to partition my SD card, but for some reason it didn't work. My SD card is now damaged. Sigh.

Edit: Fixed everything, and all's good. Hooray! Still have the force close pop up issue though with Tapfish..

Thanks again, everyone, for all your help! One more question: are there any apps you suggest NOT linking to the 2nd partition? It doesn't matter what apps (widgets, browsers, e-mail, games, etc.) go there and won't make them lag or freeze, right?>

Obee,

You shouldn't put any apps that have a current widget being used on SD. Can cause them to consistently force close. Widgets should remain on internal to work properly. Most others should be fine. I move a lot of apps that are not big time uses to SD, but other ones I use a lot, I usually keep on internal...

..

I don't put an algae eater in a sell tank precisely becaue it's too easy to sell it by mistake...or, even worse, speed it up for mucho bucks.

With Link2sd it doesn't matter if you link them onto the sd card, because now the phone will see them and treat them as if they are on the phone's internal memory. Widgets work fine linked. At least all of mine do.

System apps, I wouldn't link, simply in case you dropped your phone and the sd card popped out and broke or something. There is a way to do it, but I wouldn't recommend it.

If you have lots of apps linked, you may find it takes a long time for the phone to boot. Not a terrible amount of time, just longer than it did before. Mine boots in under a minute.

Thanks again you guys for all your help. I probably would have busted my phone without your advice.

Now that I've rooted my phone, I've decided to organize my tanks similar to how Mindbenda went about his- display/show tanks and then some fun theme tanks. I'm really into design, so I'm excited to use whatever I want now.

What do you consider your ugliest bred fish? I have a tank labeled Uglies, fifth from the top, which showcases those fish I think are the ugliest babies. Enjoy, and let me know if you have some recommendations for even uglier ones!

Glad I could help. I only consider smash breeds ugly. Like when they literally use the front half of one with the bottom half of another. Most piranha and yellowbelly mixes follow this rule.

SN: Link2SD won't let you link system apps anyway. Like for me and my beautiful MetroPCS Droid, the YouTube app is considered system so I couldn't link it.

Also if you have at least 3G and a unlimited data plan and torrent and androzip are most epic. Now to unlink everything and go back to my 8GB+ SD. The 2 gig throwaway card ironically was the one to partition right =\

So I have claimed my prize each of the last 4 days and which should mean I get a free jackpot spin today. Usually there is a time below the wheels which tells you how much longer you need to wait for that free spin. According to that timer I should get a free spin yet when I try to it's asking me if I want to spend 20 fishbucks to spin. I don't want to spend 20 fishbucks for an 18 fishbuck starfish when I should be getting a free spin. Is anyone else having this problem?

Edit: And I forgot to ask, I read in the release notes that we can give fish to our friends? Has anyone been able to do this yet or is this still in the works?

Edit2: So I checked again and it let me spin for free. I don't know why it wouldn't allow me to initially but about 10 minutes after the time was up I got my free spin so it's all good now.

I don't *think* we can give fish yet.

If it works like Tapfish2, there is a section of "giftable" items that appear when you are visiting a friend. There are fish in there, but not fish you can buy in the store. One is really plain, but there is a unicorn fish that pretty neat-looking. You can send decorations and backgrounds as gifts, too, but I think some of them are pretty pricey--like fishbuck pricey, not coin pricey.

You can also (in the other version) click on fish in a friend's tank and see what it is. Unless it is a bred fish or a special event fish, you can buy the fish from the neighbor (but it does not remive the neighbor's fish.)

I wish that had worked last night when I was looking at Droidros' Uglies tank--what is that huge yellow fish with the red face?
