UN Libyan Resolution

If the U.S. is in the business of getting involved in other countries' internal issues, then we should bomb to help free the Scottish and Northern Irish from the English, the Basque from the French and Spanish... and so forth. Anyone up for bombing London and Paris?

One word noobs... OIL!

This is another example of the US people getting bamboozled into thinking this is about "freedom" when what's truly behind is to keep the pipeline flowing for Exxon-Mobile-Chevron-BP and the political contributions!
Last time I checked the US dont get its oil from Libya.

Europe does.

Ireland is number 1 buyer of Libyan oil.

Gaddafis forces are still attacking western cities... Airstrikes in Misrata ended heavy artillery fire, still sniping etc tho :/

They SHOULD be. They are in a Civil War. We've basically intervened in a Civil War and told one side that they are no longer allowed to fight in it, but the other side is completely free to fight in it as long, hard, and dirty as they want.

This is NOT a place we should be, and this is not something we should be dictating.

we're not dictating it, we're making it fair. i.e. Gaddafi isn't allowed to bomb them

we let Rwanda slip through the net
we let Bosnia slip through (at least Europe did)

lets not let another genocide happen, eh?

Without a substantial presence on the ground I don't see how we could stop genocide if that is Qaddafi's intention.

we largely have already, there still is the potential for large loss of life in the west tho

BTW, if anyone wants a chuckle check out Lybian State TVs coverage of fascist Air strike casualties

lol Byte, shouldn't you be supporting the secular Democrats over the Islamic law <3ing self proclaimed "socialist"

I'm fairly confused at this statement.

Gaddafi is in a war. I don't think we should be involved in deciding who wins that war.

On which side? The Rebels killing civilians fighting for Gaddafi? Or Gaddafi killing civilians fighting for the Rebels?

Or use his artillery, or his armored vehicles, or armored personnel carriers, or his command centers, or his communications centers.

See the problem?

do you see the rebels with much artillery, armoured cars, personnel carriers, command centres and communication centres?
I don't...
I also don't see the rebels (quoting the BBC) doing this: "Government tanks shell area near the hospital in Misrata" either

Nor do I think it's rebels doing this (BBC quote again)
"1812: The disappearance of hundreds of people in Libya over the past few months may amount to a crime against humanity, UN human rights expert Olivier de Frouville has told the Associated Press."
