Root Universal Androot Beta

UA is how I rooted my Ally and it took all of 10 seconds to do. I even unrooted and re-rooted just to make sure I could if need be. And thank goodness for UA because I wasn't going near rooting if I had to do it manually. Those directions went way over this old guys head. :)

the phone rooted just fine....
gave me the super user icon....
although when I go to un-install some of the pre loaded apps they do not uninstall...
They should right??

The uninstall process for a rooted user is a little more complicated than just uninstalling from the Applications menu.

You will need a terminal app or adb installed on your pc.

You will need to open the terminal, type su, then rm the applications manually.

There is a good THREAD about it

Thanks....
I do have the teminal app on a pc at home. I will read the link you provided.

Or you could use Titanium Backup? Just make sure you know what you are uninstalling.

Hint: Don't uninstall gtalk or the default texting app.

It didnt work for me. When it asked me 2.1 to 2.2 or 1.5 to 1.6 I didnt know what to pick...I have LG Ally. I bought it a month ago. I installed Titanium and when I tried to use it after I rooted with this Universal Androot it said "I dont have rights or somenthing like that....can anyone help me?

I'm new to this site and I am hoping that someone can help me. I am using 2.1 update1 on my LG Ally, I am trying to get Universal Androot to work for the last 2 days. To no avail I keep getting the "failed! nofugoo" error. I have tried every version on every setting possible. If anyone could give me some insite I would appreciate it.

Thanks in Advance,
Tim

z4root from the market has been confirmed to work as well. Make sure you have USB Debugging turned on.

the root probably didnt work, try using z4root from the market instead, after that check to see if u have superuser as an app, then ti should work

FIXED! It was rooted I think, but i had the "Storage space is getting low" warning and didn't think it mattered...apparently I did, freed up space, rooted via z4root and everything is okey dokey! awesome, already downloaded titanium backup and granted it superuser permission to test, works great!

I was not able to root with Universal Androot 1.6.1 or 1.6.2. I then went looking for z4root but it's not in the Market. So I went out and found a web link for it via Google and was able to install z4root from there. I was able to successfully root with z4root.
