unlock the LG esteem (metro pcs)

I see the Lg esteem for metro PCS has a SIM card...

I live in ny and thought metro PCS used a NON-SIM card network.

does this mean the LG esteem is a "world phone"?

can it be unlocked to be used on tmobile, ATNT,simple mobile, ect,ect?

Simply put, no. The SIM you see is for the 4G LTE network.

Its an UICC card. Technically not a SIM card but is the "next generation SIM card" Its just for the 4G network so Metro knows your allowed on it.

what if u found a 4g esteem from metro and u currently have a metro account can u buy a sim card and put it in the esteem would that be able to switch accounts through the sim or do u have to do the whole activation process through the phone cuz i found one but im not sure what to do with it

you found a phone and not sure what to do with it? you wanna know if you can buy a Sim card for it and use it. that's as bad as stealing it and i hope you get hit by the karma train.

karma for a found phone right...lol anyways the phone was not evan allowing me to call anyone who ever owned it was temporarily suspended for them not paying the bill so im just bought to take it to the metro store

More likely they reported it as being lost and Metro disabled the service on it. In which case it is a brick.

It means the phone is blacklisted and marked in their system and lost/stolen. You are also guilty of theft since you did not turn the phone in to the police department. There is a law covering found property that requires you to turn it in, have it listed in the paper for 30 days, and then if nobody claims the property it is legally yours. Failure to do this is considered theft under the law. Same as how you cannot just take a vehicle because you found it outside.

A "brick" means it's useless, as in "I bricked my phone" -- like trying to flash a Rev ROM to the Esteem. DEAD.

While your phone isn't dead, as in it doesn't work, it's dead as in you will never be able to use it as a phone. If the owner reports the phone lost/stolen to Metro, that phone is no longer usable on the MetroPCS network. BLACKLISTED.

Theoretically you could flash it to another network, like Cricket -- but the LTE part of the phone would not work, only the CDMA part.

It still belongs either to the original owner (if bought outright) or MetroPCS (if subsidised). If it has been blocked then officially it's stolen property, most probably also reported to the police. The only thing we can advise you to do is hand it in.

Not true, MetroPCS cannot give you any information about the subscriber who owned that phone. It is against the law for them to do so.

If an insurance claim has been filed it belongs to the insurance company. In any case he needs to turn it in. People stealing phones or "finding" them and keeping them is what drives insurance costs up.
