Ok guys. Here is a build that is mostly working:

http://androidforums.com/optimus-m-all-things-root/403689-rom-wip-cm7-1-bobz.html

Disable screen on/off animations on first boot, they still don't work.

gapps works, bluetooth turns on, wifi works, gps works.

Credit goes to BobZhome on XDA for this build, log in there and give him a thanks.

Edit: mms doesn't work. Changed link to new post here on androidforums. Please give thanks to BobZhome and Blarf for working on a rom for a phone they don't even own.

What are the screen on/off animations? and how would we go about disabling them?

Edit: Oh what about the MMS? Is it working now?

Goodjob guys for pulling this threw, haven't tested it out yet but going to in several minutes. Anything different t from the AOSP build? And will this be synced for cm settings? (Correct me if I'm wrong)

Screen on/off animations are broken, disable them on first boot before letting the screen time-out, Menu>CyanogenMod settings>Display Settings> uncheck screen on and screen off animations.

Wow, I guess they weren't lying about all optimus' being different, I also did my nand restore before flashing the rom so I knew there wasn't gonna be a problem when i flashed etc.

Just in case someone else is out there trying to compile this rom using joneidys tips in this thread:

DO NOT RUN "MAKE -J4 BACON"

use -j2 or

make -j`grep 'processor' /proc/cpuinfo | wc -l` bacon

Joneidy and I have already trashed machines with this command and it looks like reppard has joined our little club....

wow.. i complied one on virtual machine using only one of my cores.. no -j tags.. just make.. little slower going probably.. but no burnt cores, i dunno.. i do have a pretty beefy aftermarket cooler on my cpu though.. thing never goes over 38 degrees celsius at full load

Diagnostics on my box point to PSU or MOBO. Joneidy had a HD fry in a laptop...

Cpu cooling only goes so far, heh.

How much RAM do you need to compile in a virtual machine? I'm tempted to try it but I don't think this box has enough memory for something like that.
usually depends on the host O/S a windows7 box I would bet your going to want min of 4gb and ideal of 6gb

also are you going to have a 64bit linux? if you do then it will take advantage of 6 or more gb all by itself then 8 or more would be even better.

I absolutely hate using a virtual box linux because the host uses so much of the resources, everything takes much longer, but im also so impatient. and Im using 3/4 year old hardware, some cases maybe even more. I have a dual core intel E6600 while impressive enough in its day, stock clock of 2.3 I have clocked mine for the last 2-3 years at 3.4/5 when I moved to florida I lowered the clocks to 3.34 because the environment is hotter.

IM running Win7x64.. my main machine.. Penium Dual core E2200 slow ass cpu.. but overclocked 50% to 3.3ghz, 8gb ram, ASUS P5N-D mobo, and an nvida GTX460 fermi..my virtual machine is x86.. using 2 of my 8gb ram and have 30gb of hd space set aside for it.. im a prety patient person lol.. usually set it to compile b4 going to bed lol... letting a friend of mine borrow my netbook atm.. when i get it back im gonna setup it up to run linux only.. its only a 1.8ghz processor in it.. but its fine for what i need it for .. small lightweight can take ti with me wherever to work on my project.. when have it all together i can just move it all over to my main box and compile it i guess lol.. the project im working on.. probably gonna take some time.. but im trying to do an asop build specifically for the optimus m running 2.3.5 with all stock functionality.. kinda like joneidys sense rom.. but maybe incorporate a few of cm7 tweaks.

My Phenom x4 925 with 5 gigs of ram (512 of which is allocated along with my sideport) compiled my first build in about 35 minutes. I am running Linux native. If i need winblows I do it the disservice of running via vm :). I've got 2 hours left at work until I can go home and diagnose my baby. I hope its not funeral day. Still for the trusty Asus dual core laptop...but the quad has me spoiled rotten.
