Root Unrevoked for Incredible (Recovery reflash tool/Easy root method)

For some reason, it does not recognize my phone. Any idea why? I installed the drivers and it is set for "Disk Drive."

I was using the driver that I was using when I rooted. I tried it on 2 computers both of them say the same thing. All goes well until the reboot then it says settling, and it then does then it goes to the communication error. Try again messaege.

Also noticed that it seems to keep rebooting to the os and loading the adb / HTC driver.

do select FASTBOOT or RECOVERY???

anyone got a guide for this?? the video doesnt help at all since he using an evo

Select recovery after you've installed the clockworkmod recovery console. That will take you back into it to make a nandroid backup or flash whatever you wish.

I am stuck at Obtaining Superuser privileges. The reflash will not continue without authorization. I have installed the driver for the bootloader interface but when I reboot the phone windows adds it to device manager as ADB Composite Interface. Maybe I am missing something, If I power the phone up via volume down and power it boots to the HBOOT screen, then I plug in the usb and it goes to HBOOT USB PLUG and the driver in device mgr is the bootloader interface, what do I do from that point? I have rooted the phone ( what is the best way to verify root).

Thanks

Well rom manager will overwrite the clockworkmod recovery console, so i wouldn't install it until that part gets figured out.

i havent install the clockworkmod yet, so which one i pick?

here is what i did.

i plug in the USB, open reflash, and than this white screen with hboot loaded up. which one i pick? Fastboot or Recovery for the next step to reflash?

Oh you are just to the point where you installed their new modded driver? If thats the case choose fastboot then choose reboot on the next menu that pops up. That will reboot the phone and once its rebooted then run the unrevoked2 app and it will install the clockworkmod recovery console and reboot into it. From there go ahead and do a nandroid backup and then reboot the phone. Viola!

no, but i install it when i rooted my phone.

im uninstalling htc sync to see if it fix it.

When I did it, I uninstalled Sync, ran program, and when it got to the SuperUser Priveleges part, the prompt came up on the phone asking to allow. It then finished without any more prompting. When it was done, it booted itself into the new recovery, and I ran nandroid.

For those who have been unsuccessful at getting your phone rooted go ahead and download this file and extract it to a folder on your desktop.

Then open the html file (double click it, it will open a browser window)

Follow the directions on updating your driver.

Then proceed with trying to root your phone with the instructions from other threads.

Thanks for the tip as I was to the point of giving up due to being out of ideas. One question though, you said to extract the file but the posted file is an .exe. I've always thought of extracting when dealing with .zip. Am I overlooking the obvious?

It didn't ask me for superuser either, but thats most likely because the os hasn't been loaded yet, just the bootloader.

Its got the extractor built in. Its an executable that extracts whereever you want it to. So it runs and then prompts you to tell it where to put the files. I just told it to put them on my desktop.

Very good, thanks. I'd have tried it but I'm at work and they have us locked out on downloads. I was just happy to hear of a new possibility when I get home. Fingers and toes crossed.
