Root [UPDATED 28/12 - NEW INSTALLER] CyanogenMod 7/Android 2.3.4 Is avaliable for GT540!

When im listening to music and the orientation is horizontal the volume buttons are the wrong way round i.e. they dont swap as you rotate. Is there a fix or is that a bug that needs to be fixed?

I don't think that's actually, wrong, to me it's fine like that, for example, when turning it, 270
 
How come sometimes after I go on Settings or go on a browser or play a game, and press the Home button, everything crashes (shows just the wallpaper and dock). I'm using ADWLauncher Pro and I don't know if there's a problem with ADW or the phone but can someone help me with this? I've tried going on Settings/CyanogenMod Settings/Performance and checking the Lock Home in Memory setting but the problem still occurs.

Well, the lock home in memory option is a experimental one, try to force close ADW so that it restarts itself or, use another launcher.

Are you sure its crashing? If i use a launcher sometimes it can take a while to reload, that's why i dont like using them tbh. Having tried ADW and launcher pro, the latter is the best but they can both lagg out when trying to reload. Remember your gt540 is quite a low spec phone, and your running the custom rom plus CM7 and a launcher, so its not going to be the fastest.

I have installed the new 2.3 version and have a few issues. Is there a way to get the LG IME to work. I have tried to reinstall but keep getting force close. I need to use the LG IME as I cant use the small keys on others.
Also I am on O2 pay monthly, on 2.1 I had a GPRS icon, but now I dont, is there a way of enabling GPRS?

Oh, so it's not my phone. Thanks for the reply.

+ I've encountered another problem: My phone sometimes freezes and I can't put it to sleep so I'm forced to take out the battery every time it happens. (It happened 3 times so far)

I have a similar problem... After my phone goes to sleep & I press a button to wake it up, It restarts... :S :confused::confused::confused:

You can get the LG IME if you install Soft-MOD, it's basically a minorly modified version of this ROM: Soft-MOD updated! – SwiftDroid Blog

You need to set up your APN settings for the GPRS, here's your settings (go to Settings>Wireless & Networks>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names>Menu>New APN then enter these settings):

Name: Mobile.o2.co.uk
APN: mobile.o2.co.uk
Username: o2web
Password: password

All the other options just leave as they are. Press Menu>Save and tap the circle next to the new APN and you should now have GPRS enabled again :)

I am encountering the same problem :confused:

When my phone has been locked for a while the screen wont unlock, it wont even come on. Ive had to take out battery 6 times now. Better than 2.2 though cause that dismounted my sd card randomly and cause me lose a load of sound files :mad:

i had that prob thinnk i i was usin 1.5 i flashed the softmod and it went away
 
2 things:
1. How do you know if you do/dont have soft-mod
2. If you install it via zip from recovery will you lose data e.g your applications

Soft-MOD is a completely different ROM to this one, if you followed the instructions in this post, then you have SwiftDroid/CyanogenMod

If you install via recovery you don't lose any data
 
I can't seem to be able to flash the ROM. This is what i did:
I rebooted into recovery. Go to install from sd, and then find the soft rom.zip which i have placed on the root of sd. Selected and confirmed yes. It says across the bottom:
Finding zip (or something similar)
Opening zip
Installing zip
Installation Aborted
How can i do it so it works via recovery?

Since I've been using Android 2.3.2/2.3.3 on my LG GT540 I'm not able to play games like Worms, Sims 3, NFS Shift (this one didn't work even on 2.2)

Can someone help me ? Is there a way to make them playable? Swapper?

Not at all, unless there's an emulator available, also they're not binary-compatible, one uses .apk files, and the other uses .ips files.

Of course ports can be made, Angry Birds for example, originally released on the iOS platform , now available to Android and Windows.
 
Hi !
I had installed Android 2.3.3 a few days back
I am trying to install clockworkmod from the given instructions but i cannot


1) I created a folder Android in C drive and placed the clockwork recovery image in that folder
2) Placed my phone in fastboot and connected to pc (with USB debugging on ofc)
3) but as i type the 2nd command "fastboot.exe flash recovery recovery_clockwork_3.0.1.9_swift.img" an error comes up saying fastboot is not recognizable as an internal or external command.

Pls can you tell me what am i doing wrong ??
