Root [UPDATED 28/12 - NEW INSTALLER] CyanogenMod 7/Android 2.3.4 Is avaliable for GT540!

Hi !
I had installed Android 2.3.3 a few days back
I am trying to install clockworkmod from the given instructions but i cannot

1) I created a folder Android in C drive and placed the clockwork recovery image in that folder
2) Placed my phone in fastboot and connected to pc (with USB debugging on ofc)
3) but as i type the 2nd command "fastboot.exe flash recovery recovery_clockwork_3.0.1.9_swift.img" an error comes up saying fastboot is not recognizable as an internal or external command.

Pls can you tell me what am i doing wrong ??

You need to have the fastboot.exe and adb files in order for it to work, put them in the same folder as the recovery image and before you do anything in cmd type
Code:
cd C:\Android
then continue on

Hi, i have android 2.1.
Should be updated? What are the benefits?
and last question...
Its FULL android 2.3.2 ?

Thanks for the questions.
Regards!

and my phone didn't usually crash frequently, but now it does! every time i exit an app and go to the homescreen everything except my wallpaper, notification bar & dock crashes.

make sure that the fastboot.exe and the recovery recovery_clockwork_3.0.1.9_swift.img file is there coz it wont work if its not in the folder...

hey dudeman, after i installed the honeycomb theme i was not able to use juice defender and camera360...why is this happening??

I have found a huge APN list http://dl.dropbox.com/u/25333490/Android/apns-conf.xml. It contains APN settings for many carriers over the world. To install it, copy this file to SD card. Open Root Explorer. Copy apns-conf.xml file from your SD Card into /system/etc folder (Make sure you mount the system as R/W). Then open Settings -> Wireless & Network settings -> Mobile Networks -> Access point Names. Tap MENU key and select
Reset to Default (Caution! You may lose your current APN settings).

Can anyone tell me how much space does a clockworkmod recovery take on sdcard ?

the 1st time i backed up my data it used all the 300 MB i previously had vacant on my sdcard; i freed up some space, deleted the old backup and tried again with approx 500 mb vacant and again it used up all of the space.

I want to be assured that i completely backup my apps and data, so What is the approx size it takes ?
THNX in advance =)

It all depends on how much data and how many apps you have, if you have lots of large apps, then it'll take up more space..

Hi Sir. Dudeman1996
Can you please give a snapshot of what would be the files inside C:\Android folder.
I am running 2.1 with fastboot but i got stuck in installing the other updates.
I am also using Win7, do i need to install fastboot driver? if yes, how can I do that and where can i get the driver?
Can I also ask for what would be the commands in CMD to do the update?

Thanks you very much!

This is what it should look like:

All you need to do is put the phone into fastboot mode, connect it to the computer and Win7 installs the fastboot drivers automatically, then continue following the instructions. If you use the auto .exe file to install it, the cmd instructions are carried out automatically :)

Hi Sir. Dudeman1996
I've managed to upgrade to 2.3.3 using the SwiftDroid v1.8.exe that was awesome i've just click it and it all do the works.
Good for newbie like me.
Thank you very much!

BTW is there a difference in installation using WinXP?
My friend has also GT540 but he is using WinXP.:D

I got the soft mod rom running nicely but i am a bit worried about that JumperTest app as it seems to be about connecting to peers. The rom is Russian and even more scarily the app doesnt show up ANYWARE.

RootExplorer, Titanium Backup, App Manager, Root Tools, NOTHING can detect it which freaks me out as the rom is russian. I dont want anyone but me to have access to my phone. Please can you confirm to me that it is safe or that there is a way to get rid of it (other than switching to SwiftDroid 1.8, it crashes my phone)

Thank You.
