Are they the same settings from when you upgraded, or did you get them from a website? Are you on pay as you go or contract?

Hi Sir. Dudeman1996
I've managed to upgrade to 2.3.3 using the SwiftDroid v1.8.exe that was awesome i've just click it and it all do the works.
Good for newbie like me.
Thank you very much!

BTW is there a difference in installation using WinXP?
My friend has also GT540 but he is using WinXP.:D

Nice one! Enjoy!

Well the only difference in WinXP is drivers. Win7 automatically installs all drivers for you, WinXP is different.. Your friend can try it using XP, but it may not work, if it doesn't, could your friend give the phone to you to update?

I got the soft mod rom running nicely but i am a bit worried about that JumperTest app as it seems to be about connecting to peers. The rom is Russian and even more scarily the app doesnt show up ANYWARE.

RootExplorer, Titanium Backup, App Manager, Root Tools, NOTHING can detect it which freaks me out as the rom is russian. I dont want anyone but me to have access to my phone. Please can you confirm to me that it is safe or that there is a way to get rid of it (other than switching to SwiftDroid 1.8, it crashes my phone)

Thank You.

I'm not sure about it doing anything bad.. But I found that nothing detected it either, then I found that to delete it, you have to uninstall the stock Music app. Even though it's the Honeycomb app, it's doesn't work very well. This version however, works much better and doesn't come with the JumperTest app. To install it you need to copy to your SD Card, then use Root Explorer to navigate to /system/app then delete the Music.apk file, then copy over the updated music app and change the permissions like this:

Read Write Execute

You said this version but i dont see any links or attatchments. I'm fine with power amp but will it still run without the default music app being there?

The honeycomb music player is capable of streaming audio on the local network, and I think that is part of the deal, it acts as a server-client.

Hi

after many weeks of pondering i finally went through and installed cyanogen on my phone and everything went very smoothly in the end so a big thanks to Dudeman for putting all this up and answering all the questions i and other keep asking, and now asking more questions! lol

I Left it on overnight and the battery drained, is there anything i can do to make it last longer or is this part of having 2.3?

titanium seems to show a couple of apps which are 'frozen' they are books 1.1.4 and market apps installer. should i defrost them?

What are Dev tools, DPS manager, ROM manager, spare parts and terminal emulator?

Why 2 music apps?

Can i get the 2.1 stock memo app ?

thats all for now , thanks again.

Depends, did you have Wifi tunred on? GPS?, did you overclocked the CPU?.

Book's is part of the Google Apps ..apps, it's an ebook reader, if you don't use it uninstall it,the market installer allows you to install Market apps.

  1. DevELOPMENT tools, not really useful, uninstall it.
  2. DSP Manager, is a system-wide Equalizer
  3. ROM manager allows you to install ROM's and Clokwork Reovery, however doesn't support the GT540
  4. Spare Parts, doesn't affect anything, it's a developer tool
  5. Terminal, is CLI for entering commands, like the Terminal in Linux based distros.

Don't know why there 2 music apps but i don't like MIUI, besides it's in Japanese so i can't read what it says.

Yes, it's called LG Memo App, it's in the Market.

Our version of SwiftDroid is based only on CM 7 RC 2! And have been relased RC3, RC4 and final. Swift Droid based on final version can be much better. I hope so :)

Doesnt Run. Merely makes my screen flicker. I followed your instructions as you said though

Yea this are the setting from provider site and have contract with provider (2GB per month)
this is the link Tu?mobil nastavitve for apn setting from my provider but can not establish connection with it. and tested wifi today and works fine.

In your previous post, you said:

I used this :

MMS Proxy: /

But the website says different, try using the settings exactly from the site. If that doesn't work, try calling Tusmobil and ask them for the APN settings for Android

Your screen flickers when you open the app?

I click on the music app and all that happens is that the screen flashes black momentarily, then reverts back to homescreen. Ive deleted the old music player and pasted the new one into system/app. The permissions were changed like you said but as i say nothing launches.

Another big problem (to me anyway) is when i boot the screen says this

Complete Action Using
Launcher
LauncherPro
Choose to set as default

I use GOLauncher but its not being recognized at boot as my default Launcher. How can i solve this. It should include ADWLauncher EX too but i just want it to boot straight into my preferred Launcher. Also if it helps you discover the problem, Home Selector doesnt seem to do anything other than to launch a different home. When i press the home key it simply reverts to the previous home. Ive been experiencing these problems since ive switched to the honeycomb theme starting from the first .zip i installed.

Thanks for your support. dudeman1996 and YOU_TU = Kings of the GT540 but seeing as dudeman is on his hols he is being very nice and helping guys like me out. Thanks guyzz

Hi Sir Dudeman1995
I think that is impossible. My friend is in Taiwan and I am here in Philippines.
BTW how can I delete all of my contacts?
I've imported my contacts from SD twice and it duplicate all of my contact.
Thanks.

I used xp and it took me about 45 minutes to figure out this driver business....

Have a look here for windows xp drivers. Right click it and choose install. Then make sure your phone is plugged in, and go to control panel, hardware, and choose "Android" (for me i had to click cancel first and it opened a new window which allowed me to choose, don't ask why). Then go "choose file to install" (or something where you can browse you computer for the driver) and find where you saved that .inf file and select that. Then if you are in fast boot mode (refer to first page), all you need to do is run the .exe provided in the start of the tutorial. Your phone should be recognised. Somehow the kdz updater worked but then later when running the exe it need me to do this. I hoped this helped.
