Root [UPDATED 28/12 - NEW INSTALLER] CyanogenMod 7/Android 2.3.4 Is avaliable for GT540!

Thanks for your quick replies!

I put in my sim card, and for some reason I cannot get any data to work. I have tmobile and was on their EDGE network with a black berry before I bought this phone. I was able to call out to my voice mail, and it says under "status" that I have tmobile and the edge network. I have also enabled the "data enabled" feature.

What am I doing wrong? When I look under the APN menu, nothing comes up and it is blank.

Thanks again.

You need to enter the APN settings for data to work, are you T-Mobile UK?

Hi Guys, I am having trouble with my applications running in background.
I've installed Advanced Task Killer to kill the applications but after few seconds it will run again even without opening it.
I want to save battery so I need to kill unused application running on background.

Please advise. Thanks in advance.

This has to be told time and time and time again. DO NOT USE TASK KILLERS!! They interfere with how Android works. Android has it's own unique way of managing memory, when more RAM is needed, Android will save the state an app is in, and close it down, so the next time you want to open the app, it'll open quickly and how it was left. Task killers interfere with this system and by ending tasks, Android will just open them again, which requires more battery life. Meaning that task killers make your battery worse.

I use Task Manager which kill apps when screen off. I dont see reason why aplications need to run when phone "sleeping" And control running services and looking if some app from RAM do not take cpu is not a good solution. With update of firmware on Nokia 5800 do the same thing but for faster phone and only with mesaging phone and 2 others. I dont want to find the phone dead because any bad app kill battery.
Everyone can try and choose best solution for themselves.

Well Symbian (Nokia 5800 OS) is completely different to Android. Just because one OS works one way doesn't mean the others work the same too. Android is based on Linux, Linux is a PC OS, you don't expect Linux to work in the same way as Windows do you? Did you read the link I sent you? It clearly says that having RAM filled is not a bad thing for Android, since is has it's own way of dealing with RAM. But go ahead, use Task Killers and ruin your battery.

I agree. I will try it (not ruin my battery:D) but live without killing :D

Brilliant! :D I learned this too the hard way.. When I first got the Optimus, I had a task killer, and was killing all apps as soon as I had finished, then I realized that it wasn't making any difference in performance or battery life. So I got rid of it. Now my battery charge doesn't hold as long anymore, and it hasn't even been a year since I got it! So I'm going to buy a new battery soon..

Hey everyone, Mur4ik posted on Twitter:
Hi people :) Today I'll upload a new SwiftDroid update. Nothing big, its contains a little fixes and latest CM 7 release build.
So we'll get the final release of CM, not RC2, and some bugfixes soon :)

Hey dudeman, have you done with downloading v1.9. Please upload it to Mediafire or Multiupload ASAP, I'm getting worst download speeds, maybe because of high traffic.

3. Once that has finished, install LGAndroidDriver_WHQL_ML_Ver1.0_All_Win7.exe which are the drivers so your computer will recognize your phone. Windows XP Users download this driver, extract the contents anywhere (e.g. desktop), right-click on the 'android_usb.inf' file and click 'Install'.

4. Next, open KDZ_FW_UPD.exe
(i) Change 'Type' to '3GQCT' *THIS IS A MUST, THE UPDATE WILL NOT WORK OTHERWISE AND YOU MAY BRICK YOUR PHONE*
(ii) Make sure 'PhoneMode' is set to 'DIAG'
(iii) Browse for the 'V20B_00+Fastboot.kdz' file.

5. Prepare the phone by enabling USB Debugging by going to Settings>Applications>Development>Enable USB Debugging and connect the phone to the computer via USB cable and wait for the drivers to install for the phone.

6. Click 'Launch software update' and do not use your computer until the update is complete. The update will take roughly 10-20 mins to complete.[/spoiler]

Try reinstalling the drivers. I'd this problem before and re-installing the drivers did help me.
