Root [UPDATED 28/12 - NEW INSTALLER] CyanogenMod 7/Android 2.3.4 Is avaliable for GT540!

I have a problem. Its pretty bad seeing as its the whole reason phones exist. When i recieve a call or text the phone doesn't do anything to notify me. No ringtone or vibration and i can only find out that someone has called me after i check my notifications (usually hours after they tried to contact me). Strangely ive used 1.8 Soft-MOD before without this issue. When i go to set ringtone it still plays the sound. I have DEFINITELY set it to vibrate and play ringtone. Why then does it not do these things? How can i fix it? To be honest i don't play around with apps as i used to, so i am will to flash a ROM or something...

If you suggest a rom could you please link me to it? Thank you in advance.

You can try and flash v1.9 CM7 or is it the v1.9 that you are using?
Here is the link: Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!

You can also try go in the profile settings and change the ringtone from there as sometimes it happens that a different ringtone is played instead of the one you want.

Has anyone tested the v2.0 M1 yet? I think I'm going to test it if someone tells me thats is working ok for them.

Thanks

Performance is a bit better, especially when he released the new boot.img. More RAM and better battery performance (at least for me).

I don't seem to have that problem strangely enough...

It's fast but there are some bugs. They don't [seem to] ruin the device but they reboot or something like that. Bugs aside, it is froyo on steroids! Especially if an app such as memory up is used regularly. I prefer the look of 2.3 though and the bugs are annoying. The bugs may only apply to me though so give it a go and let me know if you experience any problems like i have.

I know this thread is for 2.3 but I'm doing a comparison. That and if i made a new thread, no-one would look. :D

it's quite fast but there's not much difference when compared to 2.3. I prefer 2.3 coz it has much more features which are more important than compared to the froyo plus it's more beautiful. :)

Hi, I have a problem, after upgrading to v1.9, I keep losing data from my SD card, such as music, and recently the applications. I re-formated the 4Gb SD card several times and try again but doesn't seem to be the case, as the information will still be corrupt on my phone. I really hope that the next version will fix this as i know Mur4ik is working hard on this, on his own. I really would appreciate any help!

Thanks

I had these two problems as well. Tried going through the settings one by one but nothing. Also tried wipe cache and wipe data(some kind of factory reset i guess) in recovery but still nothing..So now i downgraded to v1.8 which worked fine for me. But i don't know if it's a bug since i haven't heard many people complaining about it..

Hi,
Mur4ik posted this on another Forum

"Here is quickfix for 2.0M1, increase perfomance a little bit
fastboot flash boot boot.img"

It is a zip file and I have downloaded it, but I'm unsure as to how to install the update, I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction.
The zip file contains a boot.img file.
Many thanks
Ian

Put the phone into fastboot mode and flash boot.img using the cmd command:
Code:
fastboot flash boot boot.img

Thanks Dudeman, I thought that was how to do it, but I wasn't sure and didn't want to do anything stupid. All flashed and working now, many thanks. I have to say that the phone does seem to be a bit faster (might be my imagination though lol).

Cool, haven't been on here for a while.. Android Forums decided to stop emailing me so I had no idea about replies...

How's 2.0? I'm thinking of trying it out but debating with myself whether I can be bothered to do it or not :p Pro's and con's?

So far I haven't had any problems with it and it does seem to be a bit faster than 1.9. Especially after the boot.img update. Everything seems to be there immediately instead of having to wait a few seconds for everything to appear.
Camera, calls, SMS and my various apps seem to work fine. Apparently the battery usage is alot better, but I haven't had time to check that yet.

Had to laugh though, as you reminded me of how I was last night when you said earlier that you were debating if you could be bothered to install the update.
Last night I said I would wait and see what the feedback was like and then half an hour later I had it installed and running on my phone lol.

Cool, I'll flash it now :)

Haha, that's kinda what I did.. v1.9 has sooo many bugs, and I couldn't be bothered to wait for it to be fully released so I did it :P

is it faster than super froyo? how do i flash the boot.img update?

edit:

i tried flashing v2.0 milestone but it got stuck on the cyanogenmod logo..i downloaded the file twice and flashed it a couple of times via recovery but its still stuck on the cyanogen logo

I finally managed to flash 2.3 but after the latest update I'm having some problems.
a)when someome sends me an sms I keep receiving it over and over again. This has happened many times and it's getting really annoying.
b)sd card won't mount on pc anymore. When I press the button to activate the connection ,it just stays there. And when I unplug the usb cable none of the apps that is installed on sd card works.I have to reboot every time.My sd card is a kingston class 4 8gb partitioned.
Hope that wasn't too much for a single message ..but as far as the sms problem I really need your help .Just now a friend of mine sms'ed me and I got the message five times

I have an idea about your problem with connecting PC. If you use swapper 2 try run it and go to settings and mark "Safe Unmount" and "Safe Remount" on. May be solved this problem.

Hey guys, flashed v2.0 M1 + the small update of the boot.img! So far it is working alright. Just a small question does anyone know if the Fm radio app (which originally came with LG) can be installed again, and where can it be found? thanks.
