Root [UPDATED 28/12 - NEW INSTALLER] CyanogenMod 7/Android 2.3.4 Is avaliable for GT540!

i got a pretty big problem now :(, yesterday evening my phone crashed completely, it doesn't turn on anymore at all. when i hold the power button it stays black, when i plug it in to the pc, it stays black. so no repsonse what so ever on turning it on. this happend after i tried to flash it back to android 2.1 open europe rom. i did get this error from KDZ updater: upgrade error WParam: 100 LParam:1002. after i got this error my phone won't turn anymore what so ever :(
i guess i'll have to send it back to vodafone nl/lg. or anyone knows how to fix this?

Have you tried removing and then refitting the battery? Mine used to crash at random, when using earlier versions of this rom, and the only way to get it to restart was to remove/refit the battery.
If you manage to get it running, do you have access to a w7 PC? as it seems the best success rate is when using a w7 based pc.

hey dudeman, ever since i updated to 1.9 i could not connect my phone to the pc i have tried a lot of times but to no avail...i restored it back to 1.8 via recovery and fixed it but when i return to 1.9 it still doesnt connect....is this happening to you?

But then it doesn't handle them properly, i'm curious why exactly did you partitioned the SD card?

I partitioned it before i had a ROM different to stock, so that i could install apps to my SD via Link2SD. If you don't know about it I'm sure you can read up and actually understand how it works.

I have discovered 3 problems with superfast froyo.

1. Like the previous froyo it randomly dismounts my SD card, but not properly- as if i pulled it out (no the hard ware is fine, it works perfectly on 2.3). This previously damaged entire music albums and cause them not to run.

2. The JRummy app RootTools (which i have used to install fonts, boot animations) cannot execute any commands and it says this COULD be due to a lack of root access. Obviously i have root access and it works fine with apps such as titanium backup and RootExplorer.

3. When i unlock my phone sometimes the screen is all white and static, then the phone randomly reboots. It works fine after that until the next random time this happens.

I like the speed of this ROM and i would like to keep it but if bugs such as these can't be fixed then i will simply revert to Soft-MOD.

I have the cpu set to stock values. (max 600mhz, min 122mhz) I think its 122 anyway- The lowest it would go.

I tried SuperFast Froyo, it did run really fast as advertised, but the only problem I had, was that the messaging app wasn't working properly, it would show the thread list, then if I clicked a thread or went into settings it would just force close. So I'm back on SwiftDroid now.

I don't seem to have that problem strangely enough...

Anybody recommend the Superfast Froyo? I've downloaded it but have not tried it yet. So far I hadn't seen any positive posts.
It's fast but there are some bugs. They don't [seem to] ruin the device but they reboot or something like that. Bugs aside, it is froyo on steroids! Especially if an app such as memory up is used regularly. I prefer the look of 2.3 though and the bugs are annoying. The bugs may only apply to me though so give it a go and let me know if you experience any problems like i have.

I know this thread is for 2.3 but I'm doing a comparison. That and if i made a new thread, no-one would look. :D

I finally managed to flash 2.3 but after the latest update I'm having some problems.
a)when someome sends me an sms I keep receiving it over and over again. This has happened many times and it's getting really annoying.
b)sd card won't mount on pc anymore. When I press the button to activate the connection ,it just stays there. And when I unplug the usb cable none of the apps that is installed on sd card works.I have to reboot every time.My sd card is a kingston class 4 8gb partitioned.
Hope that wasn't too much for a single message ..but as far as the sms problem I really need your help .Just now a friend of mine sms'ed me and I got the message five times

Well scrap what i put earlier i prefer ginger bread no bugs and much...Smoother...

So.

1.8 Soft-MOD, 1.9, or shall i wait for lukemovements 1.9 Soft-MOD. Suggestions + Opinions?

Ah, i see., but why wouldn't you repartion your card to make it only 1 partition instead of 2?, i guess that would solve some problems.

But we can report these bugs to the devs of the ROM, see if they can fix them.

Well, for me SwiftDroid has always been reliable, except 1.7, had a lot of crashes there.

luke's ROM, in the long run could be better ,because he would be basing it on a more stable ROM, and he could polish it a bit more.

I observed how the MIUI ROM looks an it's just beautiful, though it's in japanese, just judging by it's good looking but UNREADABLE music player, luke with some help can deliver a ROM as good looking (like my mock-up , :P) and stable, as that one.

May be a bug or a netowrk related problem , i've never had that, nor i see someone with that problem.

Then again, if you're using 2.3 there's absolutely no need to have the SD card partitioned.

Well I am going to repartition it to 1 partition, the thing is i made the partition using an old xp computer, and my other computer is running ubuntu without Administrative Privileges. This means that G-Partition (Partitioning Software) wouldn't run.

For some reason apps are still installed that are on my second partition (weirdly, as many people say partitions can't be read?) and i am worried that i would lose them if i re-partitioned. I shall check which apps they are back them up and move them. If lose data i'll just restore.

Sorry i kinda just typed my thoughts as they came but if anyone else has a similar problem (doubt it but hey ;)) they could at least find a solution.

OH, but doesn't really matter if you did it with an XP PC, you could use a liveUSB or liveCD and use GParted.

Yes the apps would be gone, but seeing that partitioned cards cause issues, and apps can be downloaded again in no-time, well. i think is worth it.

How long until Luke's rom is developed (Alpha at least)?

He said 'bout 3 days, there would be something.

Hi, I have a problem, after upgrading to v1.9, I keep losing data from my SD card, such as music, and recently the applications. I re-formated the 4Gb SD card several times and try again but doesn't seem to be the case, as the information will still be corrupt on my phone. I really hope that the next version will fix this as i know Mur4ik is working hard on this, on his own. I really would appreciate any help!

Thanks

I had a similar incident. My phone didn't boot even in fastboot or download mode. Then I went to the LG people and they said that my PCB (Motherboard) was crashed. It took 1-2 weeks and I got my phone back. They just changed the PCB and thats all, that too for free (as it was in the warranty period).

well i'm still in the warranty period (bought it in february) so they should repair it than :P

Yes it is, but Mur4ik has said that it isn't the final V2.0, it is just a milestone1 (in his words), so it isn't even beta yet just an experiment with odexed rom and new changes in kernel for screen and touch.

Yep, he didn't changed many things, but the changes he made are important. (new kernel) so it's out for testing only.

I have a problem. Its pretty bad seeing as its the whole reason phones exist. When i recieve a call or text the phone doesn't do anything to notify me. No ringtone or vibration and i can only find out that someone has called me after i check my notifications (usually hours after they tried to contact me). Strangely ive used 1.8 Soft-MOD before without this issue. When i go to set ringtone it still plays the sound. I have DEFINITELY set it to vibrate and play ringtone. Why then does it not do these things? How can i fix it? To be honest i don't play around with apps as i used to, so i am willing to flash a ROM or something...

If you suggest a rom could you please link me to it? Thank you in advance.
