Root [UPDATED 28/12 - NEW INSTALLER] CyanogenMod 7/Android 2.3.4 Is avaliable for GT540!

I've got a problem with SwiftDroid 1.9. My wi-fi signal strength is terrible. Router is literally 3 metres away from me and my phone doesn't pick it up and yet somehow it manages to catch my neighbours signals every now and then. My data(3G signal is just as bad) I initially installed 6.1(2.2) and that's where the problem started and thought that the latest release would fix it. Updated it and the problem has persisted. I even tried manually adding the network with WEP key but still says Not in Range. I also tried restarting the phone and editing my APN settings.For some reason my I can't connect to my provider(Optus,Australia) in the APN settings but the automatic registration option works. What should I do?

Try updating to SwiftDroid v2.0 RC0, lots of bugfixes and could solve your problem!
 
I've found a solution. There's a an option in the Advanced Wi-Fi settings that I missed, where you select how many channels you want it to use(11-14). It was set on the lowest so I just selected 14 channels and it detected my Wi-Fi straight away with full strength.

Well it's my dad's :p And it's a Parrot car kit, not 100% sure what model, but I've tried 3 different Parrot kits and they all work :)
 
guys pls help me out.. m nt able to start my fone in fast boot mode.. pressing camera key and power is starting the ffone normally.. no black screen
 
After doing a complete reinstall of my phone. ( Installed 2.0 using the .exe and starting from new)
my battery life has become horrible, after an hour on eBuddy it goes from 95 to 35.
no Wifi, no bluetooth, nothing else running but Widget Locker and eBuddy.

Please help! this is really annoying D:

Also it happens when i watch an hour long video thats on my SD card, from 100 to 45ish..

What version of SwiftDroid did you flash to? v2.0 M6 and up have massive battery life improvements.. Do you have apps like Facebook or Twitter refreshing way too often in the background?

I think I have 2.0 M6.. how do I find out?

Kernel version:
2.6.29

I dont use twitter and Facebook refreshes never.

If you can find the .exe installed you used, it says which version in the name.

Try this, it could help massively, charge your phone for about 6 hours (or just leave it charging overnight, this is to ensure that even though it says full that the battery actually gets charged to its max capacity). With the charger still in, boot into recovery and navigate to advanced>wipe battery stats. This could take a few mins if you've never done it before. Now reboot and hopefully your battery life should be fine! :)

If there's anything there you don't understand or don't know how to do, just let me know :)

the exe says 1.9
I then updated through recovery to "update-cm-7.1.0-RC1-signed.zip"

Thanks, I'll let it charge over night and do that ^^

EDIT:
Actually could it be Google+ thats draing lots of battery D:
 
First I would like to thank everyone on this forum. With all the information here I successfully installed 2.3.4 on my GT540 and I am very please with it.

Everything is fine apart from one thing, the camera microphone. When I record a video the gain of the microphone is very low. Even if you are a couple of feet away your voice is a slight whisper. It works fine on calls though.

I read somewhere that people had similar problems with making a call on speaker phone due to the microphone not increasing in gain. I am guessing its the same thing.

Any one got any ideas on how to fix this?

I have looked for settings and apps but cant find anything.

WOW.. i did it... 2.3.3 looks brilliant..
just a very small pblm when i did it initially the language was different.. i think russian.. then i managed to change the language to english but still when m opening settings>profiles under the configure profiles its showing russian language,, can this be fixed??

Everything you need is in Post 1 of this thread. Just read the entire post and you cant go wrong

The instructions for flashing both the firmware with fastboot and flashing CyanogenMod are included in the zip archives called 'Readme'. I'll update the links so that you'll always have the most up to date version of CyanogenMod available for download, note that if you choose to update your phone you will loose all your data including apps etc. so backup before you update

You can "fix" it by renaming each profile (once you figure out what each one is) The easier fix is to create new profiles, thats what I did, took 5 minutes.
 
Hi, I'm having problems with the gps and maps. The weather service can't find my location and I also can't download Google Maps, getting" Not Found " error in market.
Using SwiftDroid v2.0 Experimental Ver.
 
I have been having some problems with the amount of RAM on my GT540 running Cyanogenmod 7 RC0, I was wondering if I enable Compcahche RAM usage if it would help or could it cause any problems?
