yeah i did at first i thought it was strait forward download the files open them on the PC and run them than after i done that and half installed the 2.3.4 i realized i had to use the black command screen which i dont know anything about this is where it got very confusing and i just got lost as there is no mention of this on the first post of this thread

The command prompt can be a little intimidating right at first. You will get used to though.
The biggest thing you need to remember is after every line of code you need to hit the enter key.The code is case sensitive so you must spell things out exactly and make sure you put the spaces in the proper place.
Let me look at the guide and code today when I get up (fixing to hit the hay) then I'll walk you through it. Okie Dokie
While you are waiting you can google "command prompt" and learn all kinds of tips and tricks.

thanks mate :)

If you go to the first post and click on the "show" for the Fastboot it will give you the instructions for using the KDZ updater, not the fastboot method. Using the KDZ updater is the best way to go. You can't mess it up.
Something else that might come in handy in the furture is ADB established on your PC. Go here New pre-packaged ADB installation This is fool proof and works 100% on Windows Vista and 7. This is also found in the All Things Root Guide
I'll add some cool utilities to the All Things Root Guide that might come in handy for all sort's of things in the future.

i must be blind when i goto the first post and click "show" it comes up fastboot rom  can u please copy and paste what i need into a reply here so im not getting confused with the whole first post

thanks

Here you go

1. Before you start, make sure you backup all your data (If you do not wish to backup your data this step is not necessary) by installing the z4root.1.3.0.apk file onto your phone, then open it and choose 'Permanent Root'. Your phone will root and reboot. Then go to the Market and install 'MyBackup Root', open it and do a backup of your apps and personal data (contacts, sms, call log etc.) Once this is done, go to Settings>SD Card and Phone Storage>Unmount SD Card, a notification in the notification bar should appear saying 'SD Card safe to remove'. Remove the battery cover and remove the SD card and store it in a safe place. Then continue to step 2.

2. Extract the .zip file you downloaded to your computer (e.g. your desktop). Open the folder and install MSXML 4.0 SP3 Parser (msxml.msi).

3. Once that has finished, install LGAndroidDriver_WHQL_ML_Ver1.0_All_Win7.exe which are the drivers so your computer will recognize your phone. Windows XP Users download this driver, extract the contents anywhere (e.g. desktop), right-click on the 'android_usb.inf' file and click 'Install'.

4. Next, open KDZ_FW_UPD.exe
(i) Change 'Type' to '3GQCT' *THIS IS A MUST, THE UPDATE WILL NOT WORK OTHERWISE AND YOU MAY BRICK YOUR PHONE*
(ii) Make sure 'PhoneMode' is set to 'DIAG'
(iii) Browse for the 'V20B_00+Fastboot.kdz' file.

5. Prepare the phone by enabling USB Debugging by going to Settings>Applications>Development>Enable USB Debugging and connect the phone to the computer via USB cable and wait for the drivers to install for the phone. Sometimes the computer still won't recognize the phone, if this is the case, try this: Windows Vista and 7 users press start and type device manager (Windows XP users right click 'My Computer' and click properties, then click the Hardware tab and click Device Manager) then locate LGE Android Platform Modem, right click it and click disable. Accept any warnings that come up. Also, make sure you've disabled Mass Storage Mode on your phone. To do this, go to Settings>Storage>Enable Mass Storage, and untick the box.

6. Click 'Launch software update' and do not use your computer until the update is complete. The update will take roughly 10-20 mins to complete.

mate i done that exactly as said and it doesnt work :( i got my phone working on 2.1 everything works but when turned on a get a msg saying something about UIDs being corrupt or something and my system isnt stable and that i should delete my system im not sure how to do this  ive also lost my android market i have no way of downloading apps

Try running it again. But make sure your download speed is at it's highest. Some times a slow download speed will cause corruption in the download.
If that doesn't work, the firmware is corrupted on their end.
I'll have to find a firmware that will work on your phone.

Whenever I try to set the volume level 3/5 in my LG gt540, it became total silent but in other stages (2/5 or full) its ok, is anything wrong with my Rom?? I'm using CM 7-android ver.2.3.3 and I m very much suffering b'coz of incoming call volume, it is very low.

Help please..........

If you made a backup of you stock ROM then restore it. If it fixes the problem it was the ROM. If not it's the phone. The other thing you can do is download Volume Ace from Google Play. Turn the System volume all the way up.

hey andy i cant root my phone as i dont have access to the android market because of the earlier update it doesnt allow me to use android market what can i do?

andy that link is no good my phone doesnt have recovery mode i have tried the home + power button on boot up it just puts my phone into safe mode

I don't know about you, but this search is about to drive me crazy. Sorry, I usually check the links before I post. Hang in there, we'll get you fixed up. I might get a little dizzy from running around in circles chasing my tail, but we'll get your phone straightened out.
Let me look some more.

thanks mate i really appreciate your help even android 2.2 will be ok i just need any upgrade so i get the android market back on my phone and fix the UDI errors im getting

OK. I don't know if you did this already. You will probably need ADB established on the PC ( the SDK has the fastboot drivers and ADB comes in handy for other things as well). Go here New pre-packaged ADB installation Super easy and works 100% of the time on Windows Vista and 7. This will give you the fastboot drivers and the fastboot.exe.
I'll keep looking, but it looks like you might need to use fastboot mode.

i tried to do the download but in the middle of the process my comp turned off.... so my phone is stuck the only thing i can pull is dowload mode, other wise is gonna get to the lg logo and nothing will happen from there...

any sugestions???
tried puting the kdz in emergency and cs_emergency but ot working it will say phone not found!

i dont know what else to do!
